All the north is a myriad of awesome music when it moves in to the cultural stuff instead of copying American and British styles.

Sorten Muld is good, I also have various Danish/Swedish/Norwegian songs in most of my posts in this thread I think.

Greetings from Estonia! Metsatöll plays exactly the kind of folk metal I like - heavy, but not too heavy. Also, I know the drummer and bagpipe/various-other-folk-instruments player a bit and they're both really cool guys.

Recently discovered two great bands: Clutch and Red Fang. Very beardy and badass music in my opinion. Can't listen to them without a smirk on my face.

I'm enraged about people who whine that you "stole" our national anthem's melody (Finland's Maamme and Estonia's Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm). I consider sharing the melody a great sign of our unique connection - and what good there is arguing over who gets to keep the melody that's actually borrowed from a German drinking song? I'd sooner have us share a glass while our shared drinking song plays in the background.


And now, for something completely different.

Juice Leskinen is one of my favorite songwriters because of his funny and thought-provoking lyrics. He wrote very good English translations for a few of his songs... enjoy.
