Ugh.

I hate autotune. Even when it's used simply as an effect.

Here, have some Pink Floyd.

Why?
How is auto tuning any worse then using a keyboard rather then a piano, or an electric guitar rather then an acoustic. The problem comes from people thinking auto tuning is a replacement for talent, rather then a complement to it, as such try to make something that is bad sound good, and fail, rather then changing the way something that is already good sounds.

Guys, guys, chill out.
Autotune and screaming can coexist peacefully.

Though I probably could've chosen one where the autotuning is a bit more obvious. :I

I dislike the sound of it, for a start and since most modern (pop) songs I have heard have it, it gets old and annoying to me fast.

But like a electric guitar or keyboard, there is no set 'sound' for autotuning, it can achieve a very wide range of effects, far beyond just adjusting your voice to a specific pitch because you can't reach it yourself. If anything that is one of the times you shouldn't be using autotuning. A human voice can't realy have a revibe, unless you are a Tibetan monk who has spent years practising such a feat, so who not use autotuning to achieve this effect?

Also, if your going to judge an instrument by a it's most popular genera, then you are going to miss out on a lot of good music. It would be silly to hate the violin because you were not a fan of classical music.

But unlike an electric guitar or keyboard, it requires MUCH less talent to use.

Anyway, this is the great music thread. Not the bitch about how good or bad autotune is thread.

Screamo, actually.
Or at least, self-proclaimed screamo, I dunno, I only ever use genres for emotions, not style.
And I guess it doesn't really matter because the song only makes sense if a) you know the lyrics and b) you understand the references made in the lyrics. :b
Have some more.

No thanks, I'm full from my Black Sabbath I had earlier.
I might save it for later, though.

Like I said, problems arise when people think this is true. Singing is not easy. Au contraire! It is a bitch! And autotuning was in no way made it make it easier. People who try to use it to make it easier to sing make bad music. But you have a point, let's get more music out!

I never thought autotune was made to correct shitty singing.

It was actually made to correct messed up pitch in instrumentals. From what I've heard, at least.

Anybody in the mood for something a little disjointed, a little odd, a little off?

Love anything with a solid beat, and a beautiful tune, and the two never meet up.

 METUHL!

 Meshuggah:
 Bleed
 Dancers To A Discordant System
 Spasm

 Machine Head:
Clenching The Fists Of Dissent, live because it's probably my favorite live performance ever. If the solo after 4:10 is not awesome, I don't know what is.
 Halo, also live because...damn.

 Random classics:
 Sepultura - Territory
Slayer - Season In The Abyss
 Pantera - Slaughtered

Is that Seasons In The Abyss the original or Bloodpack version?
