Viceroy

This band always takes me back to my hometown, even if this (their most recent album) doesn't feel as magically grounded in that part of the world as their old stuff.
Still a tonne of beautiful moments on it.

Also, Void Cruiser - Wayfarer is what I was listening to before. And before that I was listening to this all over again.

Another quality Zamilska track, extra-spoopy, just in time for Halloween.

I enjoy Crass, but it's a bit tough to listen to sometimes. It's pretty much pure emotion. Elastica sounds like it was made by trained musicians.

Elastica seem a bit limited, reliably cool a bit throwback, just trained on pub gigs.
I think these guys from small town in Wales/uk also trained on pub gigs but reached operatic heights in their fame trajectory -
Mansun - Only Disappoint You

The Crass piece, Id not heard but it reminded me of Anne Clark. Her track Our darkness (1984) has a premonition of a synth riff which became massive in free parties a few years later. I think that kind of avant garde? scene can often involve surprisingly classically trained people. For the ones really obsessed with creating music - there is huge value to be mined in classical theory and practice.

I know Pandora overplays The Submarines - 1940 a lot, but I kept thinking about it this morning as I waited for sunrise.

Disgustingly upbeat, also fairly good for these rainy days.

Ive not listened closely to earlier ones but the soundtrack which SpaceX put on their last Starlink launch stream is out of this world. Its got really novel soundscapes and melodies, energetic compositions. Basically an hour long mix of Elon Musk trippin' balls through space.
