Been grooving to Holy Serpent's self-titled EP the past few nights/days. Really, really good.
Oddly enough, I remember not being too into it back in the day for some reason... maybe it was too melodic for my tastes, or something? I'm really not sure, I know I enjoyed seeing the band live at least enough to buy their CD but I never really listened to it much. Now, though, possibly due to reasons, I am digging them immensely. I shall have to give their new album (which they apparently released whilst I wasn't watching) a listen at some point, too.

I was expecting a much harsher metal than this, honestly, but this is actually really groovey.  At "The Plague" now.  Good synth and guitar for the instruments, and vocal is pretty good too after effects.  Reminds me of Nirvana vocals.  Though what do I know?  Just saying it sounds earnest, even through the synths and accompaniment.

Glad you like it! Yeah, they're really chill. That's possibly why I never really appreciated their music until recently. They still manage to squeeze in under the "doom metal" umbrella, though, at least in my opinion. I suppose some would call them "heavy psych" or something, but I think they're worthy of the grander title.   

Never really paid much attention to the vocals, either, but they and (what I can hear of) the lyrics are really appealing to me now. Honestly I think the vocal style might have been largely what turned me off before. Wish I could find the full lyrics somewhere online, though, rather than just catching a line or two here and there. Might have to ask the dudes next time I see them.

Mmm, nice. I've always had a fondness for video game music and metal, so mixing the two seems like a logical choice. I am also reminded of 331Erock, though he mettulizes other things too.
