The Knack - My Sharona (Hammerfall cover)

If Hammerfall performed more songs in this style, they might be my favourite band. Joacim Cans is wasted on just performing their usual style, in my opinion.

I need to find a particular song that I keep hearing snatches of and is getting hauntingly stuck in my head.

It's western, and I recall it being used as an opening theme for big expansive vistas and long rides in western movies. There's some limited western twang in the background, but the primary feature is a woman singing without words in a an almost-too-high-but-still-quite-pleasant register. She does some really interesting tone control and pitch changing, and I'd really like to listen to the real thing instead of the version of it that's playing in my head, but the google is failing me.

Can the the people of the great music thread help?

EDIT: Found it by literally going through the OSTs of famous westerns. It's Ecstasy of Gold.

Been really enjoying Disperse's new album.

A mix of proggy-poppy-stuff along the lines of Oceansize or Frost*, with some Djent-y metal flavoured stuff in the background, upbeat layers from Devin Townsend Project's happier albums (eg, Addicted) and some other random influences (including hints of Cynic).

Seasons of Mist put full albums on their youtube so give it a go.


Also new Sólstafir. Much the same as I remember.
