Problem with filling a chasm with water
« on: December 17, 2007, 08:28:00 am »

Well, I started in a region with a chasm. I though I was in trouble, until I noticed it was conveniently located right next to a river. I promptly dug some channel between it and the chasm, and watched with glee as water started pouring down the 15 levels of rock and antmen. Surely this would be the end of my rivals?

Alas, it was not to be. As the water hit the bottom of the chasm, it turned into mist and disappeared.

So, a bug or a feature? And if a bug, can it be fixed? I wish that my waterfall killed stuff instead of giving it happy thoughts.   :p

Chasm are now botomless, I don't even think you can fill it with magma anymore.
However, you can try to refloor the whole lowest level of the chasm before filling it with water...

Ach, but by workers would get scared by the chasm-dwellers.
So I would have to kill them.

And you know, the point of the whole thing is to kill them easily.
Dang.

Just wall the chasm off?

Chasm in 32a and up works exactly as the chasm in 23a, which mean that the bottom is without end. The only difference is that instead of being a great rift, like a canyon, bottomless pits in 32a and up are really pits. :P
