Not even Fox News has a cowboy hat wearing doctorate. The only cowboy hat wearer who appears on Fox, to my recollection, is Don "Nobody Cares What You Wear On A Radio Show" Imus. He is also old and crotchety, while a doctor you expect to be wearing either a tie or a lab coat. This reeks of condescension, and unless that doctor was the only one they could find and his cowboy hat conceals the heat sink for his electronic superbrain, I will shout angrily at BBC America any time it is being aired in a lobby television.

I think it's mostly the British people who think that Doctor Who going to America elicits a cowboy hat. It'd be like characters from an American show having to wear a bowler hat when they go to Britain.

Also, interestingly, the Doctor Who trailer in question said 'America' instead of 'The States' or some variation like they usually do. HA! We're not the only ones who never think about Canda!

The BBC is one of the largest... actually I think it's THE largest provider of TV, radio, news etc. It's also a pretty nice company, it tends to be a touch humanitarian, doing educational, and junk like sorting out laptops for students in impoverished countries. It also tends to do intelligent television... and also not so intelligent television.

In any case, what the BBC comes up with is usually better than what American television tends to come up with.
And that goes for news and radio too... possibly doubly so.

Well we don't have a station called the BBC, no. I believe the ABC gets to show stuff done by the British BBC though.

The BBC World Service has radio stations there.  And pretty much everywhere else.
