In adventure mode i had an battle with a grizzly bear and i had taken heavy wounds and was drifting in and out of consciousness, i placed it in a chokehold and managed to strangle it to death

but
the death of the grizzly bear was not announced

Actually, "chunky" just means that someone vomited, and it mixed with the blood.  "Chunk" messages seem to be related to "a pile of gore", or other lovely messages.

And are you sure you actually recieve messages during a blackout?  Just seeing something on the screen doesn't mean you get a message about it.

You shouldn't get messages while you are unconscious unless you die before your next turn.
