Building in Adventure Mode
« on: April 15, 2011, 06:31:29 am »

The main problem I seem to have in Adventure mode is trouble finding somewhere to settle down. What if you could cut down wood with an axe or mine out stone with a pick and then use that to build yourself a house. Maybe even create workshops in which you can create furniture and goods you can later go to town and trade. Or build your house in a town. I think this would be a great addition to Adventure Mode

You can do that with an external program, called dfmode I think. IIRC it is part of dfhack.
It makes you able to change to fortressmode, build a house than change to arenamode. control your dwarf and than change to adventure mode.
I have not used it myself but I think it works ok.

As for the actual suggestion: I'm sure it is somewhere on Toady's list so there is no real point to discuss it here imo
