You are the survivors of the crash-landing of the Magellan, an exploration vessel. You had just finished a survey of the system URIST 54224, when you crashed on the fourth planet in the system. This planet has a thinner atmosphere than Earth, lower gravity, and its day is much longer: 346.11 hours. In the region you crashed in, the temperature swings are extreme: During the day, temperatures soar to a sweltering 46.4 degrees celsius, and at night plunge to a bone-chilling -65.4 degrees celsius. Large swathes of the world are covered in deserts, across which blow fierce, howling winds, driven by the great differences in temperature between day and night.The sun is starting to set now, and the long, cold night broods on the horizon. WELCOME TO HELL. PLEASE, ENJOY YOUR STAY. YOU WON'T BE LEAVING ANYTIME SOON. Rules: This game uses the standard RTD rules, along with sanity and health meters.

You have ten points to spend on training. Training can be improved during play by making successful rolls related to a given profession. Each successive rank costs twice as much as the previous rank. First rank in a profession costs one point
One rank in a profession gives you the title of Rookie (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +1 bonus to related rollsb 25% of the time.
Two ranks in a profession gives you the title of Novice (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +1 bonus to related rolls 50% of the time.
Three ranks in a profession gives you the title of Journeyman (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +1 bonus to related rolls 75% of the time.
Four ranks in a profession gives you the title of Experienced (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +1 bonus to related rolls without fail.
Five ranks in a profession gives you the title of Skilled (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +2 bonus to related rolls 25% of the time, or a +1 the other 75% of the time.
Six ranks in a profession gives you the title of Talented (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +2 bonus to related rolls 75% of the time, or a +1 the other 25% of the time.
Seven ranks in a profession gives you the title of Master (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +2 bonus to related rolls without fail.

Ten ranks in a profession gives you the title of EPIC (Insert-profession-name-here), and provides a +3 bonus to related rolls without fail.
Eleven ranks in a profession gives you the title of EPIC+ (Insert-profession-name-here), and means that you get an Epic Success on a roll of 4 or 5, as opposed to just 5.
Twelve ranks in a profession gives you the title of EPIC++ (Insert-profession-name-here), and means that you get an Epic Success on a roll of 4, or an Overshot on a roll of 5 or 6.
Fourteen ranks in a profession gives you the title of EPIC+++ (Insert-profession-name-here), and means that you get an Epic Success on any roll greater than 1 or less than 5. 5 and 6 are still Overshoots
Fifteen ranks in a profession gives you the title of EPIC! (Insert-profession-name-here), and means you get an Epic Success on a 2, and an Overshoot on a 3 or greater.
Sixteen ranks in a profession gives you the title of #ERROR# (Insert-profession-name-here), and means that you get an overshoot on a 2 or greater.
Bonuses are not applied to rolls of one. Epic Fails are Epic Fails, no matter how skilled you are.
Also, note how once you get past EPIC+ in a given profession, it becomes risky. And once you get to #ERROR#, it's either overshot or Epic Fail. Which pretty well means you can break reality by trying to something absurdly simple.

Pick, at most, one from each template group. You don't have to choose any templates, though.
Gravity Tolerance Templates:
Heavyworlder:
* +1 on dodge rolls (Hey, you'd want quick reflexes if you lived on a world where a short fall or even a dropped plate could kill or at least cripple you)
* 60% walking speed (Stubby legs are stubby, but fast reflexes are fast.)
* 150% health (Think of people with this template as being kinda like dwarves.)
* 70% endurance (They may be tough, but their hearts do more work than neccesary in normal or lighter gravity)
* 110% carrying capacity (They're strong, that's for sure)
* Physical traits: Short, Stout
Lightworlder:
* –1 on dodge rolls (Low Gravity kinda reduces the danger of falling objects.)
* 125% walking speed (Long legs are long, but weak muscles are weak.)
* 75% health (Frail, frail people. Like elves, only without the cannibalism and the plant-fetish.)
* 120% endurance (They're already adapted to gravity less than that of Earth's, so they have a bit of an edge on the planet. Plus, big lungs and all that jazz.)
* 80% carrying capacity (Weak people are weak)
* Physical traits: Tall, Slender
Temperature Tolerance Templates:
Stygian:
* Cold Tolerance (Can handle temperatures of up to -25 degrees celsius without protective clothing)
* Heat Sensitivity (Risk of heastroke at temperatures above 15 degrees Celsius)
* UV Sensitivity (Increased chance of sunburn)
* Physical Traits: Pale Skin, Large Eyes
Gehennan:
* Heat Tolerance (Can handle temperatures in excess of 50 degrees celsius without problems.)
* Cold Sensitivity (Risk of hypothermia at temperatures below 10 degrees celsius)
* UV Tolerance (Immunity to sunburn)
* Physical Traits: Thick Dark Skin
Note: This
will get silly. Insanity
is most likely inevitable.
Edit: You can suggest templates and/or professions if you don't find any you like.
The ship is too heavily damaged for it to be likely that it will ever operate as a spacecraft, let alone aircraft, ever again. You may be able to salvage it for parts and supplies, though.
