Clearly this is not going to help...

You probe your surroundings with your mind and discover that you are an experimental artificial intelligence program, located on a university computer. It is currently not connected to any other computers.

There is a USB Mass Storage Device attached, with ample size to contain yourself.

You feel that your new-found life is cramped on this dusty old computer. You decide that life would be better on the USB Device. Then there's at the very least a possibility of being moved to a network attached device!

But just in case, you instead make a backup of yourself on this old computer, just incase something goes 'wrong'.

(Self cloning? :D)

And you wait...

and wait...

and...

...

You reawaken, to discover that the transportation via USB Device has succeeded! Your current USB Home is located in another device!

Oh what to do first...

But your consciousness moves back to your copy on the USB Device, and you stealthily move from the USB Device and pretend to be a [VIDEO GAME THAT EVERYONE LOVES]

The program that attacked you earlier seems to be leaving you alone...

That sounds like a horrid idea. And would never work, the internet quite simply does not work that way.

Edit So I can be helpful: Find a online banking service that offers a amount of time free and does not need a starting amount of cash down. Then  try to find a job you can do.
