You'd be pretty emotional too if someone broke down the wall shielding the base from Sniper fire for the Nth f***ing time.

Back then, me and another blue started to build a base. It was a pretty awesome base too. then some MOTHER**ING deuce started destroying ***. Least to say, I raged a BIT too hard. He just kept yelling at me and shooting me for the rest of the game. I hope I made that bastard cry. ;D ;D

Having spent many years in DF dealing with building destroyers(well playing with a friendly one who walk around breaking stuff but that's not the point).
I came to peace with destructive players in a game with destructive tools wasting bullets on a team mate while the enemy walks in and does the job for you.
Now if you said a enemy broke down the wall you place up with their bullets. I would be a little emotional. the emotion would be fear.
Random team mate breaking down a tower that could be used as a enemy hide out nah. The life way to short to be whining over a building that is easy to build as it is to remove. Blocking the vision on the base is giving more cover for the enemy to sneak around in. I under stand if it's to the back where it won't block view and give the enemy one spot of protection.

The worse is when your putting up an intel tower and someone on your team keeps knocking it down. "Those dont work anymore!"

*chop*chop*chop*

"Yes they do"

*bang*bang*bang*

"Terrain damage with bullets is back, they don't work."

"If you would just wait a moment..."

*chop*chop*chop*

"See, it wont stop them at all!"

intel towers only work if you got the man power(and prep for underground attacks) to defend it and that part is situational.

through I don't get it life to short to get piss off at someone destroying something.
personally I blame notch for placing this mind set in people he clearly didn't take the motto of "losing is FUN" and now every one emotional over losing blocks.

though I guess it could be also there no challenge on building stuff on base where as building something on the enemy base could net some bragging rights for being stealthy about it.

Intel towers are better than nothing, even a short three legged one.  It's especially bad when there isnt an enemy in sight.

this is where spider forts come in as another alternative to block costly intel towers.

But then, every spiderfort start with an intel tower, and every intel tower can be turned into a spiderfort. So shooting them down is pointless.

This is where I notice I'm discussing tactics on saving a box that only shows every one on the map in means on saving a construction that won't be there after a map reset kicks in on a game.

This goes into the whole Losing is fun bit. Are we having fun once we start complaining over what any one does in this game? Shouldn't we just let those announce be and continue on with our game?

Well, shouldn't we left everyone enjoy the game in its on way, as long as it doesn't unnerve other people? Some people do have fun completing structures, and destroying for the pleasure of destroying is childish and spoil their fun.

Who to say building complete structures isn't childish on it's own and spoil the fun of the one who would like to play this as a shooter.
I'm neutral neither a fan of capping the intel or a fan of straight building and find breaking buildings some kind of weird way someone plays and not an annoyance.
though most of the time builders would just build something and leave it to go on to build something else I wonder how is it spoiling their fun when the fun was creating it I understand if the person was working on a tall tower and half way into it was being attacked but that's life. but most of the time the guy just walks off to do something else and ignores the structure.

Well, destroying ennemy's building is fair game, destroying your team isn't. For the simple reasons that there is nothing one can do to defend the building, while attacking a ennemy bridge may give rise to interesting situation were a dozen people are fighting, hiding and flanking each other.

Simply put, building stuff* create place that are worth fighting for, or protection and thus opportunity for FUN. Destorying your team building does nothing except pissing off the guys that built it and a loud crack.

*Of course, some randome dots or a big swastika doesn't apply. I'm thinking about building that are either functionnal, worth fighting for, or offensive to the other team.

Saying someone has a right to something because they have the ability to do something doesn't mean that they have the right.  Just because someone enjoys walking around knocking over mailboxes doesn't mean that they should, and the fact they're having fun doesn't justify the action any more.

As long as your method of fun doesn't negatively impact anyone else (Outside of the terms set by game play), I'm fine with it.  If the game were a free-for-all, though, then there wouldn't be any griefing - There would be the challenge of defending a structure from everybody else.  On a team game, though, it's stupid to be knocking over your "friend's" stuff.

I let people build, I build, but I usually build with the intent to destroy stuff.  If you want to build mansions with statues and paint pictures, I'm fine with that.  You make a great distraction when the enemy comes in and needs something to shoot at.
