["HUMOR" REDACTED]

At any rate, on a more serious note. That was really literally the first time I have ever tried to defend a trench on purpose. And I can sorta see where you are coming from with the new weapons. Cause so long as head shots are so easy and deadly, anything other then snipers are useless and trench warfare is not possible.

So I was thinking two things. Although I do not know how they would be added.

1) Some Sort of trench gun. Deadly at close range, almost useless past it.

2) A med kit (Limited charges?) That in addition to healing normal wounds, if used quickly can bring a man back from the dead.

3) Spinfusers.

I think with one and two (Okay yeah, maybe a smaller map option as well) trench warfare would happen and be great.

What is a spinfuser?

Also, I was thinking halfblocks (al la minecraft) and 2x, 5x, and 10x strength blocks would make bunkers a bit more viable, but yah, at this stage having what is basically a sniper rifle on the back of every digger makes them hard to work seriously on.  Maybe something that trades ammo for a health refill, you can keep killing or you can live, but you cant do both

What is a spinfuser?
Best weapon in the Tribes games. Fires high velocity explosive discs.

The explosion was pretty small, and the discs were of average speed, in 2 at least (3 they were much faster). They were my favourite weapon, though, since they were pretty versatile. You could pop up from behind a hill and take potshots at people clean across the map. You could be 3 hills away by the time the disc actually hit them. It was excellent against deployable turrets, since you could snipe from way out of their range. Also good for annoying the hell out of people.

The problem with headshots, at least from the last time I played the game, is they are far too easy. This is because the heads on the models used are really really big. They're almost as big as the rest of the body. Same width, only slightly shorter than the entirity of the torso and legs combined. It's like playing darts on a board where everything from the triple ring to the center is considered a bullseye.

Spinfuser comment made my day (it's been a slow day). I'd like a deployable MG kind of thing, to where there may be like 3 per team or something (kind of like the automated turret thing cap in Tribes). And have them set up so you could aim over the block you were set up on, like this

     |==-
____^_ .
          |  .
          |    .

Where periods are the bottom line of the firing range. If you get what I'm saying. Something like aiming down the sights of the rifle, but forward a bit so you don't hit the corners of whatever thrice-damned block it's on.

I got into an awesome duel of wits and lead with another player on this a few days ago, the rest of our teams were building at base and me and him were playing a game of hide and seek.
It was most excellent

One of the best games ive ever played of AOS was on the city map with only 6 people on, nobody was digging in, it was all about sneaking about crouched and trying to hunt people down by sound, lots of fun.

Thinking about it id say that the accuracy of the rifle will probably have to be dropped to make other weps work well, at the end of the day, 100% accurate semi auto rifle with a 1 shot kill is fairly damn powerful, not much is going to be able to touch it without also being so powerful it just isnt fun.
Some options I see are: remove the headshots and then probably change rifle from 4-5 shot kill to 2-3,
Loose the 100% accurate deal, wouldnt need to be much less accurate to make bunkers ALOT more useful
Both options would leave open room for a sniper rifle with less ammo or whatever that would keep the point and click adventurers happy

mortars would be the next weapon that allows cover of bunkers then tanks then walkers we can only go up in sear destructable raw power. Screw balance the only balance is how could we make better powerful weapons than the crazy recoil sniper.
a SMG that does so much block damage(due to the rate it spits bullets) you could use it as a drill, the large ammo for it will be drain for trying to dig through to enemy lines but great for removing structures in a quick pace with out having to worry about losing defense.
Mech suit made from special blocks only received from grabbing the intel once built you or a couple of buddies can ride in it and rain hell on your foes.
flame thrower just flame thrower spits fire which will cause the tile that was hit to burn way make the flames infinite and boom new way to destroy the enemy.

the fact that all these weapons make destroying bunkers and forts Super easy would hopefully cause players to feel Jaded over the destruction of their stuff and focus on grabbing the enemy intel.

I think I'm getting pretty decent in modding weapon and character skins, Got two different outfits for both genders and working on a third.
