I tried that, but Chrome defaults to google search and Firefox says there's no program connected to protocol aos:// so I tried IE as well and that just said the webpage could not be displayed. I'll attempt the .html file method.

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work either. Opened Chrome with a hyperlink saying "Connect" and that brought me to "No web page was found for the web address: file:///D:/AoS/aos2620187744"

So, I gave it a try. Is it normal for people to blindly run around getting killed by people blatantly cheating with aimbots instead of using the building funcion to get some type of advantage?

-snip-
So, would AoS be a good example of this, or a bad example?
I find myself using rifle usually, because I was around when there was only the rifle, and I have grown fond of it.
When I do use the machine gun (or have it used against me) it is mostly for Mid-range fighting, cover to cover.
The shotgun blasts you apart up close, and can blow through cover.
The Rifle can win in a fight at long range, if you get near enough to them for a fair fight.
So I think the Machine gun fits it's medium range role quite well.

The SMG is great for scaring people, but on modestly large maps its not terribly effective because unlike the rifle, everyone and his dog knows where you are after you fire it off, so you become a gigantic target for people with rifles. Good on mid sized maps, though.
The shotty is a troll weapon. It's most effective for griefing people's buildings, taking completely wild shots at a target ("Shotty sniping") or tunneling really fast. The number of situations in which a shotgun is legitimately superior to an SMG or rifle are few, and are basically variations of "You run down a tunnel and see a guy, so you shoot him in the face".
The rifle is actually useful for sniping (since people won't necessarily know where you are if you hit them on the first shot), and can do close range too if you're fast enough. Really, unless you're part of an organized group and are trying to be a distraction, or you need to build very quickly, the rifle is the only weapon you need most of the time.

Yes.

Yep. Although you can skip that and just copy the aos:// link if you want.

I've seen mention of VietCong tactics, which is neat. I've always thought my playstyle, which is very similar, as more Japanese circa WWII. I dig an elaborate tunnel system with fallback points in case of breaching, camouflaged firing points (I replace interior blocks visible from the outside with blocks to match the exterior ones), with the occasional mountain bunker positioned over a heavily trafficked area for saturating with machine gun fire.

My favored weapon is the rifle however, since it facilitates my play style best. I sometimes run with a buddy who plays more shotgun, and he sweeps any infiltrators out of my tunnel system. Though that tends not to be necessary, as my tunnels wind and intertwine so much that it's easy to get lost, especially as sometimes I'll flip a layout of one level a few z-levels above it, creating lulz if I get killed. Mostly because I always come up behind said people.

The shotgun tends to be good for certain maps with heavy chokepoints, like the one with the massive bridge. Few things piss people off more than when I dig a hiding spot into columns and pop out like a demented jack-in-the-box as they run past. As above, it's also useful for wrecking enemy structures. That's the main use of the SMG as well, except at longer ranges, as it tends to chew through cover very quickly. If you've got a halfway competent team, you can draw fire and wreck the cover of enemy snipers with SMG while your own team's snipers do their work. That's a pretty big 'if', though.

Usually when that happens I just build stuff. Like my bunkers on the cliff or the bridge to nowhere.

I'm really still having a delightful time with this game.  I remember I started playing around .51 and it's getting incrementally better every release, even if a huge number of opponents are aimbots or raging tweens.

After looking around on here a few nights ago, reading about all your tunneling strategies and bunker tricks, I overhauled my strategy and just dominated the map like a gopher commando.  There's something so deeply satisfying about hunkering down in your super-secret tunnel while battle rages above you, unbeknownst to anyone, fine-tuning the layout of your labrynth, and preparing for that halcyon moment when you pop out from nowhere in the middle of the enemy base and steal their precious intel.

It does limit the kinds of maps you can play on, but since this game really is about environment modification and not FPS brain-candy, that's alright by me.

Theres kinda a big storm going on over here, Cript. ;D

I thought it would be better to just leave it down instead of things getting interrupted by possible wind shenanigans. I can put it up if you guys want it up anyway though.
