I would think flame throwers wouldnt destroy blocks at all.

SMG would take 10 hits to destroy block.

Sniper rifle should be like current rifle, but with less ammo and firing slower.

Regular rifle should fire as fast as now, same ammo, but less accurate and no iron sights.

MG should be even less accurate, take time to set up, always in iron sights, and if it overheats it's desroyed, no cooldown(I know, totally griefable)

I prefer Nikov's idea. I'd still like the flamethrowers though, it'll keep those greeens from tunneling >:D

Backpacks. Medic backpack, ammo backpack, shield backpack, mortar backpack, tent backpack, engineer backpack, demo backpack.

Medic backpacks let you heal yourself and teammates.

Ammo backpacks increase your ammo load and let you resupply teammates.

Shield backpacks serve as the deployable steel mount for other weapons. You can interact with it then fire any long arm with impunity from snipers. Can be destroyed by explosives or just bypassed by clever players.

Mortar backpacks let you set up a mortar, which is then aimed through elevation, power and bearing adjustments, ala Scorched Earth. Bring a spotter buddy with an ammo pack.

Tent backpacks give friendlies who die nearby the option to respawn at the tent. It also slowly heals and resupplies nearby players.

The engineer backpack lets you place concrete, which is only destroyable by picks and the...

Demo backpack, which can be placed then detonates on a ten second fuse unless the opposing team picks it up... and runs away screaming to save their precious bunker.

Tie this in with a simple slot-based weapon/inventory system and you have a digging-oriented version of Tribes.

I gotta say, I don't really like many of those ideas... Would make the character models look even weirder lugging around a massive backpack. :P However, I LOVE the mortar idea, as long as it takes a while to deploy.

And I like the idea of reducing rifle accuracy and damage a little as mentioned earlier.
It's a bit annoying building a base with battlements and gun ports, only to be more vulnerable than the dude standing on a hill a mile away shooting at you. :/

No SMGs in World War 1, bros. And Tanks weren't how you may visualize them. And good luck having one move across block terrain and not looking like ass. As for snipers, there really wasn't much show of actual sniper units until late world war 2. People who were "snipers" were just guys who shot the best with the weapons everyone else had. Not trying to offend anyone, but maybe lern2history before making suggestions.

That being said, I would like a Tribes-like equipment set up. Have a primary weapon, secondary, grenades, tools, and backpack slots that can be adjusted to fit the player's preferences. Nikov, your pack list seems badass. The only one that seems a bit iffy is the Shield pack, but I can't think of a good reason why not to have it.

Well, the MP18 beg to disagree. As for tank, I agree making them move on hilly terrain will be an ass. But there must be a way, after all wagons if DF manage to move over blocky terrain. Some variant of the way they move could work. However the fact is that AoS's hilly, steep terrain just isn't suited for tank warfare.

As for snipers, every single power except Russia had its own elite shooters, using scoped rifles.

Yah, I used to live down the road from an aussie ww1 sniper, guy spent most of his life wandering barefoot around the bush with his rifle over his shoulder, possibly the hardest man I have ever met and definately real, sniper units have been around for literally 100's of years (type USA civil war sharp shooter into google).

Point is kind of invalid though, creator goes out of his way to say that the game is a shooter and not based on any war  (the name of this thread and RPS said that, gave dev never actually did).  Guy seems to be thinking more on the lines of 'stuff that will work'

I have never been accused of using a aim bot as much as I was last game. Still, it was only one whiner, but he would just not shut up.
