2. The Stern Gem? This is my first artifact for this fort... I think that *may* have been an artifact from my previous fort though.

Was your first fort in the same world? If so, it's not surprising that that artifact showed up, since the game does keep track of such things on a world-wide basis. If you look carefully you might also notice images of your artifacts on things that the traders bring you - though it can be a bit disconcerting when the traders appear on your map two minutes after an artifact is created carrying a barrel with an image of that artifact on it.

Dying (ceasing to be alive) is also not a Moodable skill. Even totally unskilled Dwarves seem to do it correctly.

She only stays on the bone and stone topics for like a second before switching to the other, so I assume she wouldn't need much.

The "amount of time a demand is listed == number of items needed" rule doesn't apply anymore in the current version.  You can't judge how many items a dwarf needs by how long the demand is listed.

ELF! ELF!

Do Elves have the river running red with blood even before they climb down off the wagon? Sounds like some pretty bed-ass Elves.

That's your elven tile set lieing to you. LIES! ELVEN SLANDER!

I don't see a river running with blood. I see a bunch of blue 7's ganging up, and possibly mugging, a small group of red 7's.

Blue 7's are dicks. :(

For some weird reason, bones in moods are counted by the stack and not by the single unit, so [30] Elephant bones count as [2] Groundhog bones, and for a minuscule decoration they can and will use an entire stack of cow bones. I'm glad she wasn't requesting Giant cheetah bones, looking at her preferences.

Artifacts from previous forts in the same world definitely appear in decorations (even on enemy armor!), engravings and such.

As for the cow bones, it seems like a mystery, isn't there neither a dead cow on the deceased unit list?

Is that true?  It has still seemed to indicate reasonably well for me.

(Excepting that the "base" item, e.g. the original rock lusted after by the mason, takes one unit of time to mutter/scream/Pictionary about but nearly always ends up to be three accumulated units at the start of the gathering process...)

This dwarf is crazy. I see no stone under likes, but...

She prefers to consume sunshine? What?

The Wine of the elves. It's the highest quality booze possible. You make it from sunberries, which if I recall correctly are only found in Good biomes.

I was talking to a friend who doesn't play Dwarf Fortress. I brought up the subject of the Sunshine alcohol being the most valuable in the game. She asked me if it was anything like Moonshine... and my brain clicked. I had never thought of that connection before.
