Incorrect dwarf chosen as leader (38b)
« on: February 25, 2008, 08:20:00 pm »

I usually start one dwarf off with a few skills, like Appraisal, Organizing, and Record Keeper. In the past, this dwarf has been automatically selected as my leader, broker, etc. In this version a different dwarf is randomly being assigned to leadership. I have to manually set (on the (n)oble screen) my Clerk to fulfill the trading/accounting duties. I can't change the expedition leader, though, so I'm usually stuck with a trade delegate following around one of my hard working masons or woodcutters.

Have you tried anything accept job-related noble skills?
appraisal=trader
organizing=manager
record keeping=bookkeeper
All other noble skills are invaluable for your leader when confronted by dwarves nagging about employment.

Indeed the skills you mentioned used to suffice for making a leader.
But I can imagine Toady One refining things like this.
Haven't tried myself yet so it's just a guess...
