Sweet holy Armok
« on: April 11, 2011, 10:27:00 pm »

...I think I found heaven. Limonite, Magnetite, marble AND Bituminous coal, all in the same spot! My first time in this version a site was actually EXCELLENT. Now I have to dig down to magma, and do...something with it.

Edit: Add tetrahedrite to the list.
Edit: And Native Gold.
Edit: And I have confirmed the presence of GCS.
Edit: AND Galena.
Edit: What can I use sandy clay for? Glass, pottery, or both?
All this-other than the GCS-is BEFORE the first cavern layer.

From Mr. Welch's 1350 things he is not allowed to do in a RPG:
148. There is no Gnomish Deathgrip, and even if there was, it wouldn't involve tongs.
171. My character's dying words are not allowed to be "Hastur, Hastur, Hastur"
218. No matter my alignment, organizing halfling pit fights is a violation.
231. I am not allowed to do anything that would make a Sith Lord cry.
240. Any character with more than three skills specializing in chainsaw is vetoed.

Sounded like my fort until the middle part. No gold here as of yet, no GCS, and the magma isn't so shallow... and no limonite, when I think of it.

Whatever, I have sand and steel, it's fine.

Congratulations on your find!

Hmm, I'd post the seed, but not sure how to grab it from the raws offhand. Although I have done some not insignificant modifications to the raws, especially to the goblin entry (decreased the ratio of goblinite to slag) and to the creatures entries (various pet_exotics switched to pets).

Faux edit: Heh, not building anything right now, so my value isn't going up. I learned from before-I'm carving out this fortress first. Everything comes after that.

Hit Escape, select Export Local Image, and hit 'e'. In your main DF folder, you'll find a txt file called (name of your fortress)-parameter-region-(region number). Far as the mods go, alterations to existing material usually doesn't affect anything other than the historical aspects of it. If you've add a bunch of new animal/plants/minerals, that would result in a different world gen, but not things like entity tweaks or sidestepping the DM bug.
