Eteternally burning Artifacts...
« on: April 11, 2011, 09:56:27 pm »

So I have access to dragonfire on command, thanks to some dogs I modded in that can breath dragonfire, and I have two artifacts that were made out of coal.

So, and suggestions on what to do with this eternal source of fire/smoke?

I'm pretty sure I modded dwarves to be immune to fire, but that can be fixed.

Maybe I could use them as fortress defenses or something?

Put it in your fortress doorway, if your dwarves are immune. Then the trolls will have a surprise >:D

Put it in an annoying noble's bedroom. Bonus points if you mod dwarves to be flammable again.

Leave them out for would-be thieves to DieByFire on. Or, if you don't mind the probable FPS hit, create deadly steam clouds outside the fort by routing water onto the flaming artifacts.

Wheelbarrows with wheels are inferior to the true wheelbarrow.
you mean elves with loads of stone loaded onto their backs while walking on their hands with dwarves holding their legs to guide them?

create deadly steam clouds outside the fort by routing water onto the flaming artifacts.

There are 2 reasons why that won't work:
1. Water will extinguish burning artifacts unless they happen to be stored in bins.
2. Unless something has changed recently, steam is not harmful.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

1) cast large obidian block
2) sculpt dragon from said block
3) install burning artifacts in nostrils
4) pump magma through mouth for added burninating and awesomeness
5) .... profit?

missing a step:
4. pump magma (etc)
5. ...?
6. profit.

No! No! I will not massacre my children. Instead, I'll make them corpulent on crappy mass-produced quarry bush biscuits and questionably grown mushroom alcohol, and then send them into the military when they turn 12...
