Hum. Do we need R:TW to play this? I have some other total war games, but not Rome.

Well, it's the only one I have, and hence the only one that I can run. You personally don't need to have a copy, as it will all be done on my machine, but you may have a hard time playing if you do not have it, as you will not know what all the various units are like.

Pif. I never look at unit types anyway, I just go with the most expensive or the most shinny.

In that case you may find this useful.

The current plan is to go for the gauls, as they have the following good things about them:
-They have a nice, central starting area
-They have enough provinces for each team to start with one
-They should provide challenging and intesting diplomatic and military encounters
That is not certain, though, and if anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to make them.

I presume that you're interested then.

Are you still interested, then? I have a feeling that you are, but you haven't said anything explicit yet.

I'd like to get three people willing to do it before starting.

Er..... What time commitment are we looking at? Cause a couple posts a week is easy. But several posts per day I can not do.

It would definitely be nearer a couple posts a week than several a day.

Lovely. I'll have the first turn up in a bit.

As well as the unit guide, you may find the Tech tree useful if you do ont have R:TW.

I though I might just add something: your objective is not to conquer the non-gaul factions. Certainly, doing so will benefit you, by stopping outside invasions, and by increasing the number of cities that you own, but the conditions for winning are controlling the capital (Alesia) and controlling more provinces than the other teams.

Since winning will, at some point, involve attacking the ruling faction, this means that the arrangements like taxing will have to stop. You can cancel paying the tax, and any other similar arrangements you make, whenever you want, but there will be repercussions.

Combat between two gaelic teams cannot be simulated in the campaign, so I will run a custom battle with the same units involved and both teams controlled by the AI, and then disband the units in the campaign to reflect the results. Since one cannot disband general units, a general that gets killed in such a battle will be transferred to the control of the winning team.

When considering your upkeep, keep in mind that gaelic generals have an upkeep of 110 per turn.

By the way, ignore the income listed under each city. That is not the income from the city. The game automatically deducts money from each city to pay for army upkeep, hence the income listed. For the purposes of this game, I will manually calculate the income and upkeep for each team and update the treauries accordingly.

Move my general into the city, and begin building a port, and land clearance ( If I can't afford both just the port )
