Is it possible to set who's commanding ground forces? If so, could there be room for a General Barbrokoski? Commanding an elite regiment of marines for special operations.

Flailing people to death with empty socks, though, that takes a lot of effort. Less so if the sock's made out of something interesting, but generally quite difficult.

It is certainly possible.  Ground unit commanders can even give their units bonuses, if they possess the right skills.

Once formed (I assume you have one, if not go in the "team" section of the economics screen) you have to pick them up with a ship (you've got "pick up team" and "drop off team" button) and drop them on whatever body you want surveyed. You need to do a geosurvey from a ship first.

Also, there is a thread about Aurora in the "Other Game" section. You can ask questions there.

That is the hard, slow way.

The easy way is to form a colony via the System Information screen, then form your team there.

I've also used the reassign commander system to remove a naval commander from a doomed vessel, but you have to reassign the officer to a different vessel, otherwise they stay on the doomed vessel.

The game abstracts most small-scale civilian transportation. Notice you don't have to move your planetary governors around yourself? In fact civilian transport is a trade good which is imported/exported to simulate regular passenger transport between locations, like people going on holiday to Titan.

Also: No update yet. I slept all fucking day, I think I'm sick. Hell with that, working on an update now!

I put the list of requests on the first post.

It is possible, yes. Units in the UEF are as follows. Each unit receives a percentage of your race's ground unit strength (14 for us right now), that percentage determined by the unit's role. If you tell me what you want in your division, I'll make you a general and put him in charge.

Assault Infantry Battalion - 100% attack, 50% defense. Designed to take ground and assault defensive positions. Strongest infantry unit on the attack. Size 5
Engineer Brigade - 0 attack, 50% defense. Engineer brigades are massive, size 25, and only contribute to defense. Their only other use is to recover alien ruins, as far as I know.
Garrison Battalion - 0 attack, 100% defense. A cheap defensive unit for protecting a location. Size 5
Heavy Assault Battalion - 120% attack, 120% defense. A heavy armored battalion useful for both attack and defense. Expensive! Size 5
Marine Battalion - 100% attack, 100% defense. An armored battalion useful for both attack and defense. Same size and expense as the heavy assault battalion, I don't really understand why you'd ever make these. Size 5
Marine Company - 20% attack, 20% defense. Usually carried aboard ship as protection against boarders. Decent in a fight, but only size 1 so they're outclassed by most other units in a head-to-head conflict. Size 1
Mobile Infantry Battalion - 50% attack, 100% defense. Useful unit for holding ground, can contribute to an attack as well. Size 5

Additionally there are:

Divisional Headquarters - 0% attack, 30% defense. A divisional HQ can have 4 brigade HQ units attached to it.
Brigade Headquarters - 0% attack, 20% defense. A brigade HQ can have 4 regular units attached to it.

There are also low-tech units, but they are entirely outclassed by the new stuff.

A typical ground unit then consists of:

Code: [Select]
Divisional HQ
  Brigade HQ
    Unit
    Unit
    Unit
    Unit
  Brigade HQ

    Unit
    Unit
    Unit

Code: [Select]
217th Divisional Headquarters
    218th Armored Brigade Headquarters
        213th Heavy Assault Battalion
        214th Heavy Assault Battalion
        215th Heavy Assault Battalion

4th October, 2017 - Governor of Earth Walter Marken has reorganized civilian administration of the Sol system to better utilize existing talent.

Velda Costillo - Governor of Venus
Norma Donley - Governor of Triton
Lanny Olds - Governor of Sol-A Asteroid #237
Lorenzo Sanjuan - Governor of Sol-A Asteroid #126
Zoe Skov - Governor of Sol-A Asteroid #3
Peggy Lafata - Governor of Rhea
Antonette Hof - Governor of Iapetus
Eileen Gorsline - Governor of Sol-A Asteroid #81

All survey ships are in spacedock for maintenance overhaul. All Discovery II ships refitted to Discovery III model, standardizing them at 700 tons each. All ships updated to use new Ceramic Composite armor and latest technologies. Development continues on a survey command ship capable of acting as a jump tender. A tanker and supply ship will also be necessary for deep exploration missions. Current research focus is on designing a point defense laser weapon for missile defense.

A Heavy Assault Battalion sounds awesome, but also sounds a little extreme for someone without a campaign going on (I've never played). So, an Assault or Mobile Battalion would be fine, depending on what you need.

They also provide a small amount of production. It's not enough to replace construction factories, but if you want to assemble a PDC on an uninhabitable world, it's the only way to get it built.

When I'm finished my standing ground forces on earth will consist of 2 Heavy Assault brigades, 2 Assault Infantry Brigades, 4 Mobile Infantry Brigades and 4 Garrison Brigades. That means we'll have 8 each of Heavy Assault/Assault Infantry battalions and 16 Mobile Infantry/Garrison battalions. I'll make you commander of a Heavy Assault Brigade. I can't promise you any action though, it may be a while before we run into anyone hostile.

Good to know. We can plant some defensive stations on asteroids and uninhabitable planets then, later on. It isn't the -only- way, you could make a small orbital habitat to run the factories as well now. But that is expensive.
