Blane shakes.  The drums aren't here to sooth him anymore, to sharpen him.  To hit him like he were a sword over an anvil and the drums were the mallet.  He feels it chittering down to his bones.  He ages years in seconds.

He's about to wake up, but he can hang on for just a little longer.  It always takes him a bit to come to...

He journeys down to the centre of the earth.  The chittering makes him lose control. With eyes wide-open, he plummets...

Meanwhile, back at Courtland AFB...

A rather paranoid Specialist Aleksandr has reached the radio.

"This is Specialist Aleksandr from the State Security Service of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Who was the last user of this channel?"

Meanwhile, with the flock of birds...

Daniel is cowering in the corner, covering his head and screaming.

He sees it in plaintext, spiralling in words all around him, letters engraved into the very walls reaching the very core and foundation of earth and humanity.  It gets hotter and hotter the deeper he gets, he feels burning tear away at his flesh as he plummets into the depths.

((Wow. I was expecting this to become a nonsensical pile of posturing, like that long-dead zompocalypse free-former that Phantom and I were in, but it's become quite awesome and poetical))

Blane awakens to the sight of an ungodly flock of birds, cawing and the such washing over his sense of hearing like a great wave.

Blankey is making things worse.

"Don't worry! The birds can have your birthday cake when you die! Oh, you are worried about the seating plan...That is a problem."

(This would make an epic book.)

The megaflock of the century was here. Half a billion birds, all looking for flesh. Anything breathing was eaten. This land would be less then it already was.

Daniel takes off his helmet and throws it to the ground, and one might here Aleksandr trying to contact anyone to a very fruitless degree. Birds coming near Daniel usually meet a grisly end with a makeshift flamethrower combined with PTSD.

Blankey felt bad not helping, so he decided to help.

He grabbed something from his pocket. The only object he had ever had.

His air horn.

He put a piece of gum onto it. It started blaring immediately. Blankey tossed it far away, and the birds followed.

"Let's meet the nice girl!" He marched off towards the occupied shelter.

Blane struggles to stands up.  He grabs his walking stick, and tries to push himself to his feet.  The chittering.  Its so loud.

Right in front of him, unobstructed by the dozens of birds flying haywire.

Unobstructed by the cawwing.

A monkey sits.  Staring right at him.  He could almost swear that the god damned thing was smiling.

"You sonnova..."

Blane raises his revolver...

Blane's head snaps-to at the air-horn goes off the instant his magnum's hammer clicks against an empty chamber.  In his mind, he shot sound, and that fucker must have heard it.

The chittering stopped.

Silence.

Then the drums.

"Girl?"

Blane is interrupted by Daniel dragging him into the building.

"What the hell are you thinking, going off out here with that flock!? They'll eat you alive!"

"Yes." Blankey said simply. They ran into the building, Blankey opened the trapdoor leading to the shelter and they clambered down, closing the door as they went.

Oprah was ther, smiling at them.

"Huh?"

Blane allows himself to get pulled away by Daniel into the shelter.

"But ... the..."

Blane looks to where he was just pointing with his magnum.

Birds obstruct it.  They're everywhere.   He tries to see through it as he gets moved indoors, but...  nothing.   That fucking monkey was JUST THERE.
