[Phantom]

Aleksandr smiled weakly and Commander Jim's voice.

"Ah, Jim, it's been a long time. So this is your Alpha Squad? Not as good as Vae Victis but they'll do. None of us are injured, no."

[Fniff]

"Ruskie, we got a shitload of business to deal with. Mostly involving you visiting the prophet and disobeying your orders, but that's another time. Anyway, what's going on?" Jim demanded.

The arcane creatures advanced.

[Phantom]

"First, I'm Ukrainian, second, we're about to get murdered by Arcane Creatures. Hold on."

Aleksandr begins another Gregorian Chant, while Daniel...

He appears to be assisting in Ancient Sumerian, but it sounds more demonic than the Gregorian.

[Fniff]

"You know what you also are? A fuckhead. Get to work, Ruskie. The evac hover will be there soon, ETA Ten minutes. You can stand a few Arcanites, Ruskie?" Jim loved fucking with Alek. Alek was a good Protector, sure, but Jim just didn't like him. Like many things.

Blankey unholstered the pickaxe. He charged at the Arcanites, disabling their power supply and their Energy Crystals. Fifteen were gone in 20 seconds, but they just kept coming.

[Phantom]

Alek laughs at Jim during a pause in his chanting.

"Of course Commander, whatever you say."

Now, Daniel has drawn out his Makarov and begins to nail the Arcanites perfectly in the power source, firing at the height of each sentence in the chant.

Alek was causing them to short out with his chanting, and it seems quite effective when combined with the Sumerian...

[Fniff]

They continued their march. It seemed like they came in infinite swarms, never ending. But, something happened.

Three fingers cracked through the ground. Alien, redish green fingers. They batted at the group, trying to kill them.

[Hubris Incalculable]

Hugh stood up from his pained, desperate prayers, and walked, slowly, as though in a trance, towards the crowds of foul creatures rising from the sewers. He stood still, arms stretched straight out from his sides, crying out in ancient words that had not been heard since the fall of Akkad. energy crackled at his fingertips, his eyes began to glow with an internal fire, and...

[Fniff]

The Arcanites exploded in green fire. They screamed at their lowest and their highest. Then, as they were about to die, they sang the most beautiful song in the universe.

When they died, the universe felt like it just had it's highest point.

The Evacuation HoverVehicle arrived, landing on the ground. Commander Jim stepped out.

"You fellas want to be evac'd or what?" Commander Jim burst out laughing.

[Phantom]

Daniel responds by shooting him in the shin.

"I don't give a crap about your jokes, Commander, I nearly died, my cousin was left in an abandoned Air Base, and a little girl just gone missing. Maybe f you were less of a snarky arsehole we wouldn't be here."

A green flash appears beneith his eyes, flames that make no sense, and the feeling of beautiful music without a single note being played.  Blane slowly shakes his head raising from his slumber.  He hears nothing.  No drums, no chittering.  He looks to his left, to his right.  Some dried blood.  He tracks the source to his ears, only a little wet.

He leans up.

The girl is gone.

He calls out.

Nothing.

[Fniff]

"I...Fuck! I'll have you court...Ah fuck me!" Jim stood himself up on the edge of the hover vehicle.

"Get...Get the fuck in before I leave you for the birds." Jim snarled and crawled into the vehicle.

[Phantom]

Both Aleksandr and Daniel enter the hovercraft together, chatting idly.

For the sake of privacy, they speak to each other in Russian.

[Fniff]

Blankey pulls Blane into the hovercraft, and sits himself and Blane down.

Blankey grabs a drink from the bar module, and drinks it.

He decides to start a conversation.

"So. Who are you guys?" He asked.

[Hubris Incalculable]

Hugh, his energy spent, climbs into the craft and flops down on a seat, before dropping off to sleep, and dreaming of gods.
