"Good, cos those monkeys will shed their skins."

Blankey was right. The monkeys changed. Small details changed, getting bigger and bigger with the details until finally the monkeys were truly alien.

*

"...I thought ghosts were only in stories..." Oprah whimpered.

"Well, they're not. At least you're mother has finally moved on from her pain...
...Now you have to move from the pain too."
----
Startled by the turn of events, Daniel runs back down, encountering Aleksandr and Oprah.

"Alek?! How did you get here?!"

"Fate, and luck. You?"

"Maybe the same."

Oprah silently grabbed some rations, a bag and some water. She walked off into the darkness, to do what? Well, who knows.

"Mingus the cat, Mingus the cat..." Blankey hummed.

Hugh drops to his knees and begins to recite from the books of prayers:

Oh ye gods of highest heaven,
Hear my prayer in this, the time of my need.
Deliver me from the fruit of my sins,
And grant me salvation.
Save me from the pride and hatred of others,
Who would see me destroyed.
Give me food, that i may not hunger,
Give me water, that I may not thirst.
Give me hope, to ward off despair,
And give me faith for what will come.
Hear my prayer, oh gods, and answer me,
Amen.

"Mingus the cat, Mingus the cat..."

The Things slowly approached.

(Need sleep. Imagine that Blankey does unremarkable things while I am gone.)

Another character entered the horrific scene that is Blankey's mind. This one was the smart part of his brain, the remains of his former personality.

He said "Distraction! Save your friends!"

*

Blankey started shouting at the things. Getting them to follow him. He ran off, and The Things gave chase.

To all else in the room, they were all pre-occupied with their own things when Blankey started his commotion and ran off.

Anyone looking back down saw that the monkies had vanished without a trace.  No movement was noticed.  Not a single click, chit, or creak on the floorboards.  The room was just being soothed with Hugh's soft prayers.  Blane even rolled side to side for a second, rocking back and forth in his forced rest.

This was Blankey's battle for now, against a foe of whom none else could truly see for what they were.

Blankey ran into a survival center, and broke the lock on the storage container. The Things were getting closer and closer, he could tell. These monsters would not give up until they got their prey.

Blankey took out a flare gun and a pickaxe. He fired a flare gun at one of The Things, and fired. The Thing caught fire, screaming in rage. The fire wasn't just fire anymore. It was holy fire, beautiful and dark. Fire helped against what Blankey as dealing with. He slammed the pickaxe into The Thing's brain, killing it. The corpse dissipated  from reality. He turned to fight the others, when suddenly...

(Fill in the blank.)

he fainted, and began to dream...

Heffalumps and Woozles, Heffalumps and Woozles, steal hunny, beware...

In his dream, he is floating in a black abyss, tumbling over and over. Points of light reach out to him, engulf him, wrap around him like a winter fog...

A tall man in military attire floats downward. A man-sized locust flies to Blankey.

"Sir, I am Sgt. Killain Frost, reporting for duty as your subset of your personality." Frost saluted.

"I am the parasite in your head that shut down parts of your brain. I failed, but you are much better." The Locust said.

"Me am oooooooh, Me and moooo are going to towwwwn--" Blankey was punched in the face by Frost.

"Sorry sir, but that was just unacceptable. We some important information on your past. We know who you are, and how it affects the future." Frost said, coldly.

"What is it, and why should I care?" Blankey said.

(Answers! Also, thank you Hubris. You are a true gentleman.)

A notable silence drifted through the home, everyone having left.

Even Alek and Daniel have disappeared from the safety of the home, to end up helping Blankey, but it's arguable whether they could do anything.

Blankey woke up.

"OH GODDAMMIT!" Even such a warped mind as Blankey can recognize massive disappointment. Knowing something was a fun thing to do.

"Hey, we need party guests!" Blankey grabbed his flare gun and fired into the sky.

*

Commander Jim spotted a spec of light on the horizon.

"They signaled. Let's go." Jim said.

*

Suddenly, a manhole burst from the ground. It spinned around, and stopped. A single quarter robot, quarter human and half arcane creature rose from the depths. And another. Soon, there was hundreds.

Every radio crackled.

"This is Commander Jim, your superior. Alpha Squad, we are sending an evac squad to your area. Do you have any injuries?" The voice asked.
