Heh...

I'll go along with the permadeath - but it was actually a Blu Spy we cleverly revealed and killed, and you walked in later if you didn't get a turn yet.

Killing Blu Spies will be funny for the paranoid aspect of it, anyway.

People who are in the list but aren't playing should still be permadeathed, though.  Just so we don't have people killing off "spies" purely for fun.

I don't particularly know if we'll do "live through your children" type of thing... for one thing, that means that unless you walked in with a child, we're going to have to foster marrying "ourselves" to one another to get "extra lives".  And that's just kind of goofy and creepy things to encourage in players.

We want to run a fortress... It is highly likely that some several a lot of people will die due to drowning, burning, stabbing and being turned into an artifact by our more psychopathic peers and you think that gay marriage is the most creepy thing we will witness?  ;)

I vote for 2nd chance but as long as my ghost may rule the fort for a year I'm fine with normal permadeath.

I do honestly think that ghosts as fort overseers is a good way to handle the permadeath thing without knocking too many people off their turns.

We can all construct a fancy tomb for our own dwarfs at the end of our turns, and have no general purpose crypts, except maybe to memorialise all the atomsmashed immigrants.

I think Dead dwarf = Dead dwarf
If your dwarf is dead and you get your turn you either assume the role of the liaison even if he was only in your fort for one months, a Dwarven ghost or you just make a journal made by an anonymous dwarf.
There is no reason to ban people from playing this because we have !fun! :P

OK, I'm gearing up towards making the game start today, so speak now or forever hold your peace...

Also, being as we have about 3 people who are haulers, I think that I'm just not going to turn off the hauling labors of many of the stupid soapmakers and cheesemakers, because, really, otherwise, they're getting a damn magma bath.  There's no way you're going to be a soapmaker in a fortress where nobody ever hauls.

Oh, and just making sure... does anybody have any sort of gender or personality trait or prefstring preferences for "their" dwarves in this before I actually hit the commit button?

I can keep aborting until the starting seven have traits people are happy with.  Migrants would take some annoying savescumminess, but it's theoretically possible, if we get enough migrants, to just hit upon some dwarves with the right traits.

If there's a dwarf who likes cobaltite or kimberlite, I'd like him or her.  If not, all hail the RNG!

I'd like to be male because having babies while fighting will not be useful.
But because everyone wants to be male already just give me the one with the strangest prefstrings

Well, Scaraban and Rolan aren't part of the starting seven - so long as their migration wave is large enough, that won't be a problem (we'll just make the guys who posted in the other thread, but not this one be the women...)

Only two starting seveners are male so far.
