Looking at US politics, it seems like the US would be a happier political place if the two parties had at least one split each. The current setup is just causing everyone grief and is quite undemocratic.
Their current setup is far better than what we have in Europe. In Europe parties are monolithical entities, and internal dissent is nigh-nonexistant (which turns law voting into little more than a Magic the Gathering contest), whereas in the US you can often find senators of a party voting for or against resolutions following their personal ethos. Plus independents make it to US  governing bodies far more often than in Europe.
Not really. The republicans vote along party lines (at least on everything major). The democrats don't as much, something that screws them over since the republicans have a united front on everything.

I won't vote for any political party or politician. They all suck.

You have no right to complain. It's like letting go of a steering wheel and then being upset that your car goes in the wrong direction.

The only thing to do is to vote for independents. Vote for the Green party, or some other party- any other party. Vote for write-in candidates.

Do this, and you may complain for one election cycle.

Whatever you do, don't vote for the democrats or republicans.

But if their a candidate they become a politician and thus I can't vote for them can I?  :P

That analogy doesn't really fit anyways, Its more like being tied up in the trunk of the car while two drunks fight over the steering wheel.

Fourth option. As far as I'm concerned, with the obscene amount of corruption on all sides (I'm looking at you, lobbyists,) red tape, and sensationalism that flies around during anything remotely political, the whole damned system needs to be burned down and rebuilt from the ground up.

If you must classify me, I lean so hard to the left that some folks mistake me for a conservative.

You know how I know that you Americans take voting a lot more seriously than Australians? Because some of you bother to vote! They force us to, and even then we do our best to make a joke out of out ballot.

The Tea party is, for all we care, part of the Republican party. If you REALLY must say you are part of them, just pick Republican.
So, are you stating that as the official position of the Bay 12 Forums?

No, I am not picking republican, because I plan on helping get a lot of those bums thrown outta office in 2012 and 2014 also, right along side some their Democrat corruptocrat pals.

Not just bay 12, anyone with a brain. The tea party is very clearly part of the Republican party. Voting Tea party is voting republican.

I agree with this.  Being forced to choose who fucks you over isn't much of a choice at all, and making the choice only legitimizes the authorities which force it upon you.

I will vote for Nader, however, as he is the only politician I've ever been able to find the slightest bit trustworthy, but I have absolutely no hope whatsoever that my vote will mean anything and even if some super miracle got him in office, he still wouldn't be able to do much of anything.

But at least I won't have everyone telling me that I have no right to complain, as much utter bullshit as that is.  It's like being asked if I'd like Justin Beiber or Britney Spears playing in the background as a crowd of lunatics bludgeon me to death.  It really doesn't fucking matter.

So, to that you say nether and turn off both. If you really care that much, go out and do something, if you don't chose the guy who only bludgeons you to unconsciousness. It still better then death!

You believe your vote actually puts your hand on the steering wheel.
