I have not oppened the save yet, but if there isnt much steel around, I like to use it on weapons better, and at most on mail shirts and helms.

Steel isn't very necessary for armor but it can pierce other stuff, so that's why I suggested it.

Also, you can never, never, never have enough crap to last for more than two years.

Screw it, my HD died today and I'm going for vacation in 2 days, and I don't feel like starting again with all that mess.

Skip me please :P.

What's the matter, didn't like my all-organic fertiliser? Blood and bone are great for the garden you know. :P

Shame about your HD though, hope you didn't lose too much.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

UristMcKhornate hasn't been on in nearly a month. I'm skipping him.

Oh darn it's me now.

Uh, well, give me a few days. I am currently pending two forts (now three with this) so it will take me more time than normal to get a log up and finish my turn.

But i WILL participate.

Okay, one down, two to go. I'll do this one even though the other one is long overdue. Flickersteels was quite boring, IMO, just needed some design fixes and stockpiles, not to mention farms.

1st Granite
Apparantly the dwarves in this icicle just found out that the guy commanding them for the last year was a child. Quickly, they held a vote and determined me as the next overseer.

Damn democracy. I'll just have to find a way to pull this fortress through another freezing year on this glacier.

Spoiler: Goals (click to show/hide)

Now that I've taken a better look at this fort, I'm adding one more thing to my list of goals.

6. Cleaning up

God, half the stuff on the main floor is scattered around, and half of that stuff is forbidden due to some stupid overseer forgetting to reclaim them. I'm planning out some proper stockpile halls near the main lobby. At the very least some of the stuff on the floor won't stay on the floor.

As I continue to go through the records I wonder why the hell one fourth of our wordly goods are out somewhere in the caverns, forbidden. I plan to revamp this place. Significantly.

21st Galena

Cleaning up has progressed quite well. For some reason, everyone forgot where the stockpiles went, so I had to go and redesignate everything.

I have unforbidden quite a lot and still puzzle over why the child put those line of doors at the gate entrance. However, I have found nothing against that so I just let them stay there.

The upper battlements have been completed. We are now a two-story fortress.

I believe history is about to repeat itself.  I strongly suggest building a fallout shelter and putting half a dozen dorfs in it, new immigrants without strong connections to others.

Make a huge series of "everything" depots with a mist generator to clean any dwarf that goes into the area, then start clearing FB goo covered stuff from the dozen or so FB's that have died and covered everything with their goo.

Make plenty of soap and keep the docs without any non-medical jobs at all, lol.  Sacrifice most of the population just for hauler duties. and be ready for the massive tantrum spiral :P

Socks and gloves would be handy too, might make up a bunch to be sure your dwarves have them for partial goo protection.

How did I miss the existence of this thread?
(Don't attempt to answer that.  Down that path lies ... well I was going to say madness but you all run towards madness as if it was made from chocolate and puppies.  Just forget I said anything.)
