Sorry this is a little late.
I didn't even know this place was here. Has it been here the whole time? Yay, more crap to send dwarves scurrying halfway up and down the map and spending days on a single trip. I think a little light entertainment is in order.
I see no way in which this can go wrong.
Uh, you going to do something about that?
Fine.
Look how far it got. Naturally it chose to do this on the only route between the caverns and the atomsmasher, so I ended up drafting the whole fortress hoping for a lucky crit to the skull.
Luckily, I had one dwarf with a pick. There's only one miner at the moment, because they don't bother with anything but their picks and that makes them vulnerable.
After that I gave the swordsdwarves some weapons for dealing with the larger animals, but the axedwarves did get to beat a war lion and a bunch of elves to death. They are all armed now. The elves didn't come in Winter, and either they left early in Autumn or didn't turn up then either. I was rather hoping for a little more excitement.
Anyway, there's a batch of dumping just finishing up, since I found ANOTHER section of crap-crammed cavern. This is all the loose armour-type things, and after you pull the lever you'll need to go into the stocks screen and take the dump designation off whatever's still there.
Framerate has improved considerably -- I think it's doubled, although since the only jobs that have been going all year are weaving and brewing some of that might be lost when normal function is restored. There are three slab engraving jobs queued in the large room on level 41 but I'm not sure if there are any slabs to be engraved, and there's a quantum pile of stone on level 40 by the huge room of wtf. I didn't have time to bring it all up to the smasher. I also cleaned units, items, and the map in DFhack just before saving for the last time, so there should be a little boost from that. There are also some traffic designations up to prevent the pathing from trying to go through the caves, and the chunk of cavern in the first pic is sealed off with a bright red floor.
Here's a before and after of the stocks screen, if you're interested.

And the save.
