I thought Salverope was immune from restrictions for their first year?

It's tier 1 to start with on a reclaim.

... I am not looking forward to my year.

Actually, I think I'm gonna follow a similar strategy.

Stay underdeveloped for the coming year to get rid of most(all?) restrictions from others.  I'll just have everyone haul stuff or make stone blocks.

Then the following year, go on a massive growth spree, anticipating all restrictions and creating extras of everything I might need for two or more years.

That's the general idea to this game.

Granted, this game is still a bit on the unbalanced side. Hopefully, the newer game turns out better.

1st Granite, 206
The DFTA report has arrived.

No booze. No wood. No plants. No bars. No weapons and armor.

When I told the fort the news, they were not happy. Murmurs of unrest. One old resident mentioned that joining the DFTA hasn't helped us at all, a fact which I figured out three years ago.

So they mutinied. And the first act after my deposition was to dig more adamantine. They don't understand why I told them to stop where we did. They don't know why it's there. They think it's just a really good metal.

They think our 14-man military can stop anything that lurks below. They don't understand.

4th Granite

They don't understand.

They don't understand.

And it has ended us.

23rd Granite
This is Urdim. I'm writing in the leader's journal because there's no other paper in the fort... and anyway, he's not using it anymore.

The demons came from below. All the grown-ups are dead. I'm only still alive because the demons attacking me are made of steam.

I don't understand. Why did this happen?

Before the demons got up here, someone said Armok is punishing us for digging too deep. I didn't dig. Why am I being punished too?

Ok.... I think this game is over...

The first fort falling has just been crippling to the game more then what could be forseen. My own dwarves are just as tempted to dig into HFS

Well, screw you all.

HatchetTwinkled will continue on even if it has to survive on well water and the skill of dwarven warriors for protection.

I'm gonna use this final year (before the wave 3 restrictions hit from the fallen forts) to gather as much wood as possible.  I've already stocked up on over 100 mechanisms, so hopefully that'll be enough to build bridge and magma traps for defense.  Also, I'll be building as much glass stuff as I can while I can (windows, tubes and vials mainly).

Oh, for posterity's sake, can you guys please post your saves after your forts have fallen?

Here's what's left of Frozenamuses.

I tried to explore it in adventure mode, but it didn't appear on the site list for some reason, so all I accomplished was getting two dwarves and a human killed by various things.

With no access to metal, no invasions, outside of that minotaur incident, I have simply become bored and started a new fort elsewhere.

I thought the whole point of this game was to deal with crippling restrictions and tough them out.

True, your really not supposed to suicide like BBF did, but now that he has, all food is now perm restricted, and it would only be a matter of time till everyone falls.
