One thing i have seen is that some people have said that they embarked with many stones to test weight and suchlike
my question is, how? i have never seen an option to bring stones with me. any answers

If you don't know how to get to that screen, press (n) on the screen where you choose what amounts of what items and animals you're bringing with to bring with.
