The truth is his show ran its course, his contract ended, and having achieved his goal of getting a message out he and Ailes have decided there's no sense jumping sharks to keep pounding out the same list of bad actors. His show undoubtedly influenced the 2010 elections and now that the policies he espoused are being presented by the Republican House majority he can scale back to being a guest commentator and making documentaries.

Well, I do enjoy the straight up acknowledgment that FOX is not a news agency but an advertising arm of the Republican Party.  But yes, sure, Beck and Ailes came to a mutually calculated decision that the theory of the show could only last so long before it became ridiculous, despite being the highest-rated "news" show in its timeslot.

And Charlie Sheen decided after eight seasons of Two and a Half Men that it was time to pack it in before things got stale.

Composition fallacy. Just because Glenn Beck had the goal of influencing the 2010 election does not mean that is Fox News's goal.

While that is a good point, it's also wrong. I don't even live in the US and I've heard how the white house has accused fox news of being the media arm of the republican party.

Technically, all he did was point out fallacious reasoning.  He did not declare the conclusion to be false.

Meh, I haven't really trusted fox as an unbiased news source since they decided to cover George W Bush's trip home from the white house instead of, say... The Inauguration of the new fucking president?

Wait, you trusted fox as unbiased news at some point?
(Although to be fair, the news portion of fox isn't that bad, just the opinion portion (eg. what everyone watches)).

To be honest, I had a general idea that they were a bit more conservative oriented, but didn't realize exactly to what extent they were

Thanks to freedom of speech, media and news organizations can elect to show whatever side of a story or bit of the news they like. For example, when ABC told Obama they weren't giving up the 9PM prime-time slot of Dancing with the Stars to an address about the Libyan military involvment, they were perfectly within their rights to do so.

Of course you make it seem like they didn't show the inauguration at all, which would be a touch misleading. I may have found your source though.

This is true, but that it's pretty solidly legally protected (and ought to be) doesn't mean that the particular act is actually good, or ought to be celebrated (or even considered acceptable) by all. It merely means that the incidental consequences of a law that prohibited would be far worse than allowing it, and that the correct course of action is to stop giving them ratings and to complain about the perceived low quality of their product (which is what seems to be done here). Pulling "freedom of speech" isn't an ethical defense of any particular action, just a legal one.

EDIT: I hope I didn't miss your point. Also, I want to note my agreement with your assessment of the actual situation with Mr. Beck. I find it unlikely that this is actually a problem for him.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I wouldn't be surprised if they let him off for a bit and then when the 2012 election rolls around and everyone misses his crack induced conspiracies he can pop up and say "I'M BACK BI*CHES!"
