Mandrills for training Teddles and Slashy (and anyone else who wants in), but everyone must use wooden training weapons (unless they're wrestlers of course). Wouldn't want one guy with a metal axe to ruin it for everyone else.
Rath will train with Teddles and Slashy using a wooden training axe.

Can I see Jacen's skills?

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

NOTICE: At the end of Winter, we will have a general posting on who we think is a traitor. Also, here's a list of skill shots for people whose skills have advanced notably in the past couple of seasons. Check the skill list to see if you can get any apprentices: there's a growing pool of them. Military dwarves should take note as having a few recruits as backup may save your life now that we're attracting goblins and exploring caverns.

Jacen, you simply won't train with your training spear and I don't understand why.

NOTE FOR RATH: some novice animal trainers came in recently with no other skills of note, but they're female. This is your current dorf.

RTiger: now a Talented engraver!

Aqua getting along in skills.

Babalos now Accomplished in masonry.

IPunchFaces has grown to Talented in wrestler.

Spera has improved, I think, from Adequate to Competent.

And as for Lekza:

On the plus side, your project is complete! Have a look!

"Damn it, where did my b-bed g-get off to?"

...

"Dumped in the smasher? What k-kind of idiot would do that? Here I am, trying to make stone b-blocks for the g-good of the fortress, and somebody smashes my b-bed? Damn it, you c-can't trust anybody these days. Look, when you make some more b-beds, tell me, alright? I don't want to sleep on the floor forever. Just put it by my workshop."

The workshop that Babalos built will now be claimed by him, so that only he can use it. Build a bed a tile or two beside it. Babalos will sleep in that bed. If anyone tries to deconstruct the workshop or the bed, stop them. Babalos will continue to make stone blocks, and anything else the fortress needs that he can make.

Another thing of note: we have no palisade on the south side of the map because no bridge exists yet. I decided not to take GM liberties with that, but there's lots of trees over there for cutting and they're closer than the ones outside the palisade since nobody has to walk all the way around it to get to them.

Here's the latest map. I couldn't, for some reason, export .BMP files of a ton of the Z-levels. The caverns won't show up here. I'll have to post regular screenies of those.

Ok, Maps of my desired cavern room thing:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
If I calculated that right, the bottom part should be aquafier. So be careful when digging the 'lake' part of the little stream thing.

Meanwhile, my prior orders stand. Aqua will take his turn guarding the cavern for the group. But I'd like to take that mail shirt if no one else has asked for it yet.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Who is this dwarf, please? If he's a URIST, spare him. If not, then I accuse that person of being the traitor. Same thing for the bed, if there's a dwarf hauling it and we just took a picture at a bad time.

That dwarf is a URIST and shall be spared. In fact, all bed-haulers were URISTs. In order to keep everyone on their orders I've deactivated all hauling except for burial, save for certain individuals. Lekza has item and food hauling activated because it's important to her work, and Aaronius has furniture hauling on because he's a carpenter. So no named dorfs hauled beds.

Be a man, Jacen.
Train with a real spear.
But seriously, training weapons are useless except with live training. Training is safe already.
