Anyone still playing? I used to see Alstar and Falknor from time to time, but I haven't met them for nearly a week now.

Is there any tips about entering T2? I have these items:

Swords:
Tempered Calibur 3*
Flourish 2*
Cutter 2*

Guns:
Autogun 1*
Cyrotech Alchemer 2*
Shadowtech Alchemer 2*

Bombs:
Freezing Vaporizer 2*

Shields:
Owlite Shield 2*
Defender 2*

Armor:
Wolver Coat 2*

Helm:
Jelly Helm 2*

Tried both solo and in a party; I think I did better solo'ing because of weaker enemies and I can control all argo. But in both cases I got killed several times (a lot more in a party).
Swarmed in all directions, I died as my shield crumbled.

Should I farm for more crowns and buy 3* armor recipes/armor? Then heat them up slowly in T1?

I got T2 clearance in worse gear than you have. Maybe you just picked an inopportune gate for your setup? Or your group was bad, I got lucky enough to find two guilded guys doing a run who knew what they were doing.

What gates would you suggest for my gear? Jelly and lichens maybe?

I got most of those items after getting T2 clearance... I ran T1 solo for a long time to get those. When I just got T2 clearance it's just defender, wolver coat, jelly helm and calibur.

Tonight I solo'ed Snarlborax using a level 1 flourish and level 1 freezing vaporizer without dying once (though killing gun puppies were painful), and then got killed 4 times in the first level of T2. That's a big difficulty spike there...

Is there actually any difference between the gates, aside from enemy types (which apparently can change any moment depending on which minerals you insert)? Also, what gear should I get first?

Yeah jelly and lichens sound like a good plan. Keep in mind I've played all of 9 hours so I'm not really... okay I'm a noob. I have found that shooting and moving helps greatly if you can time it right, just takes a bit of horrendous death practice.

As a note since you've got three weapons, read up on the enemy type weaknesses and strengths and prepare accordingly, if you haven't already.

Many thanks to Norinth! :)

First he gave me a Blaster - I underestimated its usefulness. Turns out it's high fire rate and larger ammo capacity make it better than all my other guns! Then he offered to play in T2 with me to see what advice he can give me to improve my survival rate.

We went through T2's level 1 to 5 last night (then we ran out of mist and left), even completing 3 arena fights. I think I died 3 or 4 times. Norinth said I'm ready for T2... that while I might not be able to went through it unscathed every time, I was doing fine for using low-end gears.

With the experience gained last night, I solo'ed T2 level 1 to 5 again and didn't die once! I avoided devilite levels though.

Thank you again Norinth! :D

So I've been looking at the auction house and... as far as I can tell any item of note is sold at a loss. Do that many people buy CE (for real money, not crowns) that the crown equivalent is basically meaningless?

Also, I'm up for T2 stuff if anyone wants to friend me. Name's... oddly enough, Darkmere. Just put Bay12 or something in the invite so I don't assume you're a crazy stalker who wants to stroke my wolf helm, please. :)

1. That could be the starting bid, that was expected to rise.

2. If those are "Buy Now" price, perhaps the seller was mass-crafting for UVs and were selling them only to quickly recoup some costs.

The equipment I understand, that section behaves as expected. It's just bizarre seeing 0-star and 4 or 5-star materials sell for the same amounts. I was looking at light shards and saw prices anywhere from 1.5 cr each (buyout) to 45 each, in under an hour.

I used to play WoW, prices would eventually reach equilibrium, you could count on a certain price for most goods. I think that's what confuses me.

Light shards are indeed worth very little... for some 4/5 star mats, I've asked the same question before about Blighted Bones. The reason is that they are not used in most useful recipes, and therefore very low demand.

Also, if you're taking a break from Spiral Knights, it's time to come back. It's the Power Surge Weekend! Gates cost 5 instead of 10.

Yeah I can't wait to watch the Crystal Energy price go to 13k per 100.

I guess I should stockpile crowns and buy CE when the market crashes on Tuesday eh?

You don't need to buy any extra energy... just know that what you've got will go double the distance. That's good enough for me!

I think it'll just return to normal... there may be a chance for it to drop below 6K for a while.

Well if you know whatequipment you want to craft and sell all the other materials, once you hit T2 you can make enough money to buy CE with crowns and still turn a profit, plus you'll eventually need it to craft gear anyway.

I do expect the market to plummet after the weekend's over, hopefully back under 6k. Either way I just sold 1500 cr in mats for an extra 100 CE while it's cheap. Maybe if inflation hasn't hit too bad tomorrow I can do 400 energy-worth of farming and stock up more.

Hmm.

If the prices skyrocket i'm tempted to sell what i've got right now. It'll be risky though.
