Aaand bought $5 worth of energy, so now I actually HAVE the 100 energy I said I'd put into making a guild. Every so slowly gearing up. Got my 2 star sword, but still have 1 star other stuff. I have to admit it's much MUCH more fun to play multiplayer.

I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Me and a friend have been playing a lot lately, been running through T1 and decked myself out in T2. Been purchasing energy using just crowns, crafting all of my gear except my helm.

Me and him are saving up for our T3 gear now, I have everything I need for the sword, and almost everything for the armor, helm, and shield. Going a fire route, tempted to switch over to the owlite shields, and magic armors.

My friends and I have been regularly killing the Royal Jelly with tier 2-3 gear. It's not too hard at all.

I've got a Wolver Set, a Jelly Shield, a Plate Shield (the one I'm using), and a Skelly Helm. Weapons I'm leveling are a Troika (SO BEASTLY) and that one 2* sword that goes to four different kinds of 3* swords but no 4*s swords.

Troika is just funtastic though.

I've been going with friends on 1-13 dives to hit the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Terminals for recipes. It's working well enough so far. I want to go with a Skelly Set I think.

Well, after the latest update Spiral Knights is working for me again, but unfortunately my net connection's terribleness is also back!

That being said, does anyone know why they changed the hub level behaviour w.r.t. vitapods? It seems more annoying than anything!

And, as always, working on upgrades, selling stuff, and poor. Assuming that patches don't change the game into an unrecognizable state, I'll keep playing. I hope to continue seeing you all in game.

I've made my way to the end of Tier 2 several times now, but i'm still having trouble towards the end, and I feel like i keep farming crowns to get energy without a net output. Right now i have an Ascended Calibur, Winmillion, and 3 stars cobalt armor, but i think i need to go another route as far as armor goes, the Azure set is nice against piercing damage but almost nothing actually deals that kind of damage (i think there is only floor spikes and one of the lichen attacks). I'll probably try to get the elemental cloak thing, and maybe later i'll try to get an angelic set for those pesky undead and fiends.

But i can't imagine how many runs i'll need to do before i get all the recipes.
At some point i'll also have to do royal jelly runs (for the sealed sword, for the avenger and faust), but first i'll need 4 stars armor and some way to inflict poison status (or a good team).

Glad I tried this game on a whim, I really enjoy it. Really scratches the casual dungeon-crawling itch I get.

Remember that the most effective way to gain profit from your expeditions is to bring back recipes to sell. When you reach the checkpoint, grab a few popular 2 star recipes and resell them for about 1.8k-2k. A good way to do this is to copy a WTS message similar to:  WTS: 2* Wolver Coat Recipe [1.8k]           in notepad and then paste in in /z chat in all of the existing havens. Then return to the very populated and spammy havens and post the message whenever it gets bumped off the screen. Once you have enough saved up, move on to selling 3 star recipes for 6.8-7k, and eventually 4 star recipes for 18-20k. Don't be afraid to negotiate and drop the price for people, as long as you get it out of your inventory you'll be making profit. Also remember that the quickly rising energy costs are making the game more difficult to newish players, don't get discouraged. It gets easier.

Try not to make the mistake of bringing back unpopular recipes. Look around at what people are wearing and get a sense of what they'll most likely buy from /z chat. The wolver series is popular, as is the magic series. Cutters, too. Spiral demo suit. Etc

Another quick edit here. As long as you're sitting in town doing whatever, even if you're just talking to a friend, keep a close eye on /z for material seekers. If you EVER get a chance to sell off materials I recommend that you jump at it. Even if you're selling two shards for 200cr total it's 100% profit, because you'll most likely never use the materials yourself. There are exceptions of course, like if you're planning on crafting something and you only have one of those rare materials. Hold on to that, obviously. Just the other day I made 15k in a single transaction by selling materials in bulk. I didn't quite get the full amount of crowns that they were worth, but I was totally fine with it because I was actually making crowns from them at all. It's better to sell low than to never sell at all when it comes to materials.

Yeah, NEVER pass up a chance to buy the Wolver line recipes - you can ALWAYS find a buyer and make a profit.

Hmm thanks for the advice, it's a bit hard for me to sell recipes, since i rarely have the crowns to buy them, but i'll try that later. For now i managed to get myself a better armor (so far i was using the 3* cobalt) and i got a 3* owlite shield, a 3* chroma mask, i just upgraded my new chroma suit to a salamander suit (4*), and i only need more materials to upgrade my helmet to a salamander mask. But boy, this is hard on my energy reserves, i may have to buy some more with cash soon. I don't really like that though, the pay to win system. At first i thought i'd get by without paying a cent, then i indulged in 3500 CE, and now all the crafting makes me very close to 0 again. I can only hope that once i reach the Tier3, i'll be able to turn a profit :/

Oh and i was quite happy yesterday, i managed to get 3 arenas in one Tier2 run !

I'm all about newbies that have too much (real-life) cash.

Had someone say in local that they're looking for someone to craft them some stuff. I offer to craft them a Scarlet Shield for basically cost - 100 energy and 1.5k crowns. They say that they're still new and they don't really have any crowns; would I mind taking 250 energy instead?

I, of course, graciously accept their offer.

Just stumbled across a forum post from the devs about their next planned additions to the game: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/5348

Not surprisingly right at the top is an auction house. Also in there is mention of new items (that are being patched in today). Not a whole heck of a lot of information, but I figured I'd link in case people hadn't seen and were interested.

Thought it might be worth noting that along with a few other free to play MMOs, Spiral Knights is now on steam, with steam implementation. (Your steam friends that play will be automatically added to your in game friends list, if you log in using your steam account)

Also, I figured out how to fix my ATI x1950's problem with this game. Turn down the Catalyst A.I. setting

Meh, the game sucks now that the devs broke the Energy market to force more Real Cash purchases.

Yeah I quickly lost interest when the market shot up like it did. It's quite sad really, and now I see that the game is on steam so that they can herd in more players. How would newbies even play with energy costing what it does? You'd really only be able to play on mist energy.. what a shame.
