Prison Transfer is no joke?!
« on: April 04, 2011, 04:47:34 pm »

Hello fellow dorfs,

So I was transferring goblin thief, to his new "chamber" and on the way there, I wasn't able to exactly recollect the whole scene. But he either got loose, or a pet attacked him out of the blue.

Can prisoners break free when they are being moved? If so... uh... I'm going to leave those werewolves where they are for now.. O_O

Any tips for ensuring the safe transfer of a prisoner?

Thanks :D

Deconstruct cage. Rebuild at new location. Open with lever.

Don't transfer thieves, they know how to break free, unlike normal baddies.

But yes, any time the dwarf moving a prisoner gets hungry, thirsty, frightened by groundhogs, or is otherwise distracted  they let go of the prisoner and instantly forget about it.

Hence why a military escort is a good idea, as well as transfers going as little distance as possible to a prison pit, arena, etc.

Note- Never try to bring caged enemies to the trade depot. The will always get out. I learned that one the hard way...

Next time, build the cage 1z over the "chamber" and pit him in.

Yes and no. Use floodgates instead of doors. Doors can be opened, Floodgates cannot except by lever. Connect old cage to lever. Close all floodgates along path to ensure only one path. Deploy bait behind new cage trap. Prisoner runs to bait. Cage Trap snaps up. Open flood gates.

Easy.
