Gmod
« on: April 03, 2011, 07:29:29 pm »

Garry's mod, or better known as Gmod, is a open source game that allows to the player to create gamemodes or maps. It also allows the placing of items and ncps to play around with.

Its a really fun game to even just screw around with in single player. I personally love it because the online gamemods are quite addictive.
However, the loading time for some of these games can be quite long and tedious, but if you stand the wait you can play a great game with a (Mostly :P) great community.

If your curious, my servers IP is:
Code: [Select]
69.197.190.59.27015
The game is called trouble in Terrorist town, which is where a bunch a innocent terrorists try to rout out the traitors among them.
Kinda like mafia only with guns, no night period, and you can kill at any time.

Gmod is fun.
I may stop by sometime.
Is that the only gamemode you play?

You CAN still mostly play TTT without CS. I do it all the time, cuz I made the mistake of buying Gmod with TF2.

Damn.

I used to play this a lot. After getting bored with construction servers I started playing one of those RP mod game modes, I can't quite remember much of it. But it was a ton of fun once I figured it out.

Now gmod just seems kind of boring. I don't regret the purchase though, many good times were had.

Tip: If you're thinking of buying this game, you should probably have a friend to play with.

I love TTT, but it's always hard to find people when you have the time to play(for me).

open source

No. It started as a Half-Life 2 mod. It runs on the Source engine but is not open source.

Anyway, if you haven't played SpaceBuild, I would recommend it. It's got quite a dependency chain, though.

I love this game, my most played game on steam by far, out of about 50, with 615 hours racked up. Has anybody ever tried something other than gamemodes? Built any awesome stuff?

As for gamemodes, I used to play on the Pulsar effect game modes a lot until they sold everything off and disappeared.

Just like to reinforce that statement. GMod has never been, or has ever been considered to be at any point, Open Source.

As a wire user, I've built a few cool things, from a garage workshop with a heavy lifting crane to a working hover bike... That hovers, rather than flies.
I'd have to say my best creation though, if only in terms of humour, was the flying ship I made.
Flew it around a busy server, singing You are a Pirate down the mic.

Have you tried the gamemode I talked in the first post? Its -really- fun to the the traitor in that game. Too bad its not very common to get that role.
But hey, I remember getting three traitor roles in a row once, it can happen.
