Accidentally submerge the world?
« on: April 03, 2011, 04:16:14 pm »

So I was just digging away there I found some damp stone, there didn't seem to be any discernable source of water, so I dig through it.

This is at ground level, luckily.

There is water everywhere. And blood. Only 2/7, but it's endless! Have I just triggered the next great flood? Am i going to need to turn this fortress into Noahs ark?

Thing is, I started this fort at a bandit camp I raided in a previous adventure, and a place where all my adventures sem to occur. I feel I have just edited the entire world accidentally.
Well, makes for more interesting adventures...

Sounds like you hit an aquifer.  Aquifers are an infinite water source.  Congratulations on making your next adventure more interesting!   ;D

Wow.... infinite water source.

While the comedic effect is certain.... shouldn't they be finite!?

But ok, in the name of !!SCIENCE!! I'm going to go ahead and find a couple more above ground aquifers in the area and see how fast I can turn the hills of whatever the hell, into the Sea Of Fun.

Gonna run a meagre food/booze survival operation to keep the little bearded guys alive... but other than that...

Didn't have time! I had enough time (mostly) dig out a single Z level.

Edit: Seven leaks sprung now. The world is flooding nicely.

Aaaah, conglomerate and puddingstone.

Oh, and well done. Now just get carp, mod them to be [PET] and [TRAINABLE] and breed them to death.

Next time a goblin ambush appears, release the war carp and enjoy the view.

OH BOY, OH BOY !
Can you post world gen parameters with seed and location of this spot ? Its just perfect for my two current ideas of fully underwater fort and a ship-fortress.

If I'm not mistaken, carp were dangerous because they had the [can_learn] tag, giving them super strength and agility from all the swimming they did. They didn't have [likes_fighting] or whatever it is (like elephants had), so they only fought in self defense when cornered. In a river, they were always cornered, so they slaughtered everything. If the whole map is flooded, the carp would probably just run away from the goblins. However, if you were to mod them back...

Also, priate dwarves: YES!

File is uploaded here: http://www.2shared.com/file/hLIr6eso/world.html

I think that's the right file. I'm not sure if you'll also need Genesis installed to run it.

Name of the place is Keskeldetes.

I couldn't figure out how to find the co-ords
