Will this work? Blood-into-fuel reaction...
« on: April 03, 2011, 04:03:45 pm »

Will this work as written? Does anybody see any problems with it?

[REACTION:BLACK_MAGIC_COKE]

   [NAME:blood sacrifice for coke]

   [BUILDING:ALCHEMIST_LAB:CUSTOM_SHIFT_B]

   [REAGENT:seed bar:1:BAR:NONE:COAL:NONE]
      [PRESERVE_REAGENT]

   [REAGENT:sacrifice container:NONE:NONE:NONE:NONE]
      [CONTAINS_REAGENT:sacrifice]
      [PRESERVE_REAGENT]

   [REAGENT:sacrifice:5:LIQUIC_MISC:NONE:CREATURE_MAT:NONE:BLOOD]

   [PRODUCT:95:1:BAR:NONE:COAL:COKE]

   [PRODUCT:50:1:BAR:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:seed bar:NONE]

   [SKILL:ALCHEMY]

EDIT: Just realized something, will this produce the product in the right scale? I seem to have left out a product dimension.

You need a reagent entry for the blood itself.

I have one, "[REAGENT:sacrifice:5:LIQUIC_MISC:NONE:CREATURE_MAT:NONE:BLOOD]"

however I admit that it is kind of hard to notice. I think I need to parse the reaction definition better to make it easier to read.

I see no problem with it in itself, but I foresee difficulty in getting the blood into the container.

But you can still trade for it in this version, right?

I think so. But still, that's only once a season. (And not during spring or winter, either, as I doubt elves will sell you blood.)

On the other hand, you can get an awful lot of it if you order it specifically.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Is it possible to make a reaction that puts blood into barrels? I'm sure you can make one that magically appears blood into barrels, but one that requires blood to work? Such a reaction would simplify this a great deal.

EDIT: If you can, you should make it require dwarf blood. Get some real sacrifice going on.

It should be pretty trivial to mod dwarves to be milkable for blood, which I suspect will be moved to barrels if you allow it to be, otherwise the reaction can use it right from the bucket.

You can make a blood press. Just press bodyparts into blood in barrels.

I thought of that, but I don't think we can call for bodyparts, corpses, or live vermin in reactions yet without the game metaphorically throwing a clot :P

You can call bodyparts if you add reaction classes to muscle/liver etc. templates. Also you can call dead vermin.

This is a base of the cremation process, you can work from here:

[REACTION:CREMATE_BODY_KILN]
   [NAME:cremate bodyparts]
   [BUILDING:KILN:CUSTOM_SHIFT_B]
   [REAGENT:A:2:NONE:NONE:NONE:NONE]
      [USE_BODY_COMPONENT]
      [REACTION_CLASS:CREMATION]
      [HAS_MATERIAL_REACTION_PRODUCT:CREMATION_MAT]
   [PRODUCT:100:1:BAR:NONE:ASH:NONE]
      [PRODUCT_DIMENSION:150]
   [PRODUCT:60:1:GLOB:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:A:CREMATION_MAT]
   [SKILL:SMELT]

[REACTION:CREMATE_REMAINS_KILN]
   [NAME:cremate remains]
   [BUILDING:KILN:CUSTOM_SHIFT_V]
   [REAGENT:A:1:REMAINS:NONE:NONE:NONE]
   [PRODUCT:60:1:BAR:NONE:ASH:NONE]
      [PRODUCT_DIMENSION:150]
   [SKILL:SMELT]

I just had to add CREMATION class and CREMATION_MAT reaction product (to call "fat") to unneeded stuff (like sinew).
