I like most how most of the events on Matul Remrit is based on real game events, even the battles, as the OP usually explains on Something Awful. So much better than some Let's Play's that are disguised fanfiction happening in a DF-like world.

Yeah, for the most part, 99% of the stuff in Matul Remrit is an interpretation of in-game events. Most of the "made-up" stuff consists of social interactions between the dwarves rather than physical actions, but there's still some logic to it (like militia dwarves will describe interactions with other militia dwarves, workers will describe interactions with workers who have workshops near them, so on). I never much got the point to Dwarf Fortress stories that make stuff up - the game itself is the storyteller. Sometimes when illustrating stuff, we have to modify little things for the purposes of effective visual communication, but we try to interpret stuff without contradicting the game.

This is amazing, and yeah I know what you mean, the game tells so much, I mean a lot of games do really, I've made fan fics completely out of what happens in a blood bowl match, I did a bit for this game as well, but you got some really good art to go along with it.

Matul Remrit just got reviewed on Rock, Paper, Shotgun. The anguished comments of readers who are trying to stop DF from taking over their lives is sweet, sweet prose.

Sir! Your story-telling is very well done. Really like the language you've adopted/developed for it. It's a very interesting take on dwarven culture, which really helps setting them apart from the other races (humans especially ofc). It's effective for immersion and occasionally hilarious too.

I've read through it all and will follow it to whichever end you and your talented pals see fit to bring upon us.

(and you've made me finally give in to try out Stonesense - I've used the various 3d-tools in the past, which unfortunately are no longer with us/stalled/etc)
