Tips For Running A LP

1. Make certain you have the game and it works.
2. Screenshots are helpful. I reccomend FRAPS.
3. Don't rely on screenshots to tell the story, we all (or at least I) prefer a good read with our shots of gratuitous violence.
4. GO FOR GOLD!

5. Have no social life. This will mean you get less distracted. (Optional)

On a more serious note, sticky!

Here is a tip: Make sure you can play it with a reasonable amount of time. For example some games can be played at a higher difficulty but create extremely long battles because of it. Watch out for that.

It was the reason why I never did a Freedom Force Letsplay just by posting videos... Some of the tougher battles (especially with shielded enemies) can take a half-hour all on their own. Though not in an interesting way. Most of the time your running away in circles to avoid attacks until you got enough charge for a good shot. On Hard (which is actually way different then normal oddly enough) this becomes exagerated especially if an enemy has immunity or resistance to some of your attacks (DANG IT FORTICIMO!!!)

6. Build a reserve of posts before starting, and try to keep a steady pace.

7. Save before each recording session, and do not override the save until you've double checked all the output material.
8. Don't start the LP with full dosage of your insanity. It's best to lure people with small pieces. Eventually they will turn insane without even knowing it.
9. Something going wrong? Take a break, walk somewhere nice, take a sip of your favourite coffee, inject some more drugs.. There is no need for frustration.

Some technical basics, which everybody should know, but some may not!

10. Upload screenshots in .png, not .bmp! There is no quality loss in normal resolutions, and you can cut the "weight" of the file by up to 80%
11. Virtualdub is a great, free movie editing software. It has a steep learning curve, but even if  you're totally green, use it for compressing FRAPS videos.
12. If you're posting links to youtube videos, adding "&hd=1" will automatically enable high def for every viewer.

13: Don't be afraid to either restart an episode or skip through most of one because nothing happened. A lot of blind runs fall into endless voids of trying to find out what to do.
14: If a game is MADE of grinding, make sure you skip through the majority of grinding, only breaking out if something interesting happened.

15: If you're doing voice commentary, fool around with your mic a bit to make sure you know how to use it properly.
16: To save a lot of time checking sound quality, just open the file up in Audacity, scroll through the waveform, and check for anything out of the ordinary.
17: Everyone loves a musical episode!

No tips on how to create video and combine it with audio?

Ohh yeah...

Tip 18: Often it is better to do the audio after then before.

That's more of an opinion based one really, some people really prefer, both to do and to listen to, audio done while actuilly playing the game.

Well it is more like the difference between Mystery Science Theature season 1 and season... all the others.

It really depends on the game. Though of the things I watch a lot of them go halfway.

Tip 19: Get the audience involved if possible.  Most LPs that I regularily check on are those with character/ships/planets/etc named after me.

Tip 20: if you can't buy Fraps and don't wish to go the nautical route to get it, download Taksi. Nearly the same thing as Fraps, but free. (just ignore the part on the info page about lack of sound, that was an older version. Newest version records sound fine)

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.
