I REALLY enjoyed SR2, it was funny and had a fair amount of action. I was surprised that

I was sold on Saints Row 3 a quarter of the way through Saints Row 2.

However, insane trailers do not hurt my confidence in this regard.

The bullshit death sequences have totally killed my hopes for this game.
If you're going to have ragdolls, you do ragdolls.
You don't script the death sequences and then make them ragdoll for no reason at all, because that looks like ASS.
The freefall scene from that trailer is crap too.  You do NOT make a scene that is entirely based on physics and then don't use physics in it at all!  It's just common sense!

You also don't use 24 FPS cutscenes on a 60+Hz screen.
Bluh.

SR2 only had a couple of scripted death (e.g. The chainsaw attack, which I agree totally looked shitty) sequences, are you talking about 3? I havnt had a chance to check out the trailers yet.

Physics?

Sorry, are we talking about the same game series where i can fly a helicopter upside down for a good 10 seconds before bailing and surviving the 20 second drop to the floor?

I'm pretty sure Saints Row takes the Just Cause approach to physics, which is to burn down the mathematics department in a manner that is visually pleasing.

Not realistic physics per-se, in fact, the physics in SR2 added to the hilarity. I mean how there are certain hard coded death sequences which then jump straight to rag doll, and that sometimes can cause the ragdoll physics to bug out and cause the body to "hop", which does indeed look shitty.

Chainsaw death scene?  Was that in 2?  I don't remember that one.

Regarding physics, it REALLY sucked in SR2 when I flew my chopper to the sky limit, then hopped out... and didn't crunch or impact or anything when I hit the ground.  I had the no-fall-damage thing, but still, I just sorta flopped there.  Not awesome.

Yeah, in 2 you could chainsaw somebody, which triggered a scene where you sliced them nearly in half vertically (yet their body stays completly intact, oddly enough) and they are about halfway to the ground in the scene, it jumps to ragdoll and the physics bug out a bit. I remember one thing I always thought was hilarious with the physics, where if you could somehow knock the mirror off of side of a car and step on it, it would send you flying. It was hilarious, but just try and tell me the physics weren't bugged in situations like that.

That happened with a lot of melee weapons in SR2 if I remember. The sword had you ramming it through their chin....

I don't think it being bugged is an issue. Its hilarious and doesn't mess with your game as your character is nearly invincible anyway (even more so if you get the bonuses).
