Most insane forgotten beast incident?

As the title says, what was your most insane FB incident? I was just about to construct a glorious pumpstack of magma to the surface with my giant water mills before a single "towering eyeless horse monster with two tails" single handedly roflstomped about 109 dwarves, with 8 skilled swordsdwarfs in steel. 119 pages of assness.

Granite quadraped with a dust attack that caused lung rot tore into my cavern dwelling fortress. Many died, some hid behind a forbidden, locked artifact door, safely inside.  Then a moody dwarf walked through it, into the cavern, and others pathed through it, and dropped glass bricks in the doorway, and it ate them all. the end.

So the first migrant wave comes in the first year of my fortress, and one of the migrant weaponsmiths gets a mood and becomes a legendary weaponsmith. I'm thinking "hell yes!"

Then in the first winter the first forgotten beast comes and eats the weaponsmith. Eurgh.

This isn't particularly notable by itself, but the exact same goddamn thing happened to me in in the first year of my last 40d fortress (and the last one I'd bothered to play all the way to the first winter before the other one), except with a wild dragon-esque monster thing I added in instead of a forgotten beast.

My most insane forgotten beast incident... Oh yes, poisonous blood giant cave spider thing with wings.
Bloody thing bypassed my wall, straight up the stairs, then my military attacked him. In the main stairwell. (Also the only stairwell) So, every dwarf in the fortress got their share of poison blood. About a minute later, they all died. Like flies. :(

A feathered kangaroo made of vomit, died really quickly. Two seasons later someone decides to lick the goo off their armour and BAM! They had bloody vomit so hard it killed them, this somehow spread to 40% of my 320 dwarves and somehow started a loyalty cascade that took care of a further 40%. The disease killed everyone who was infected in around an in-game month (yes, that fast, all at the same time) and then disappeared without a trace.

Buggy (or maybe not bugged but super cheap by design, not really sure) FB with 'deadly dust' that uses part of the cave-in code.

*Constantly* spamming a 100% unavoidable, unblockable, undodgable massive 360 degree AoE that both knocks everything it hits unconscious no matter how tough/armored they are AND constantly slams them into the walls hard enough to cause major damage (enough to kill pretty much anything in 2 - 3 wall slams). Marksdwarves are no use since the range on the dust is almost the same as bolt range, and anyway they won't retreat so unless they get a super lucky shot from max range they get slammed into the wall too. Oh yeah, it could also fly.

I don't even know what syndrome the dust caused, since anyone exposed to it was slammed into the wall to death long before it mattered.

That was the only fort I've lost in a VERY long time.

This one isn't insane per se, since it didn't kill any dwarves, and it got lost in a crash, but I still find it so amusing that I want to share it again.

My military had just recovered from the last FB's syndrome that rotted most of their flesh off and left them blind. So I decided to have them explore the caverns a bit, since OBVIOUSLY they'd be badass enough by now. So yes, I had blind, horribly scarred dwarves on a recon mission.

Anyway, they get to a large cliff overlooking a lake, and I stop for a bit to think about what kind of awesomeness I can wring from that... when the giant green glass lobster with a trunk and deadly cave-in dust ( that I had forgotten about, har har ) decides to come check it out too.

So I think "Oh, well they'll just swarm it. Steel is harder than green glass right?" And as they're NOT heading towards it to swarm it, I suddenly remember they're blind... Oh, well I guess I better rewall that opening then.

Then it happens.. The giant cave-in dust cloud billows out and engulfs my brave, brave military. I brace for the worst... and when the dust settles, the beast is nowhere to be seen, and my dwarves are just standing there confusedly, completely unharmed ( for now ). I look around, and find the lobster down in the lake, minus one pincer. The stupid thing propelled itself off the cliff and into the lake, saving my dwarves from a glassy, snippy death.

End result: The lobster ended up sitting in the exact spot it fell until the game crashed. My military contracted yet ANOTHER full-body flesh-eating blood-swelling disease, and they survived that too. I had a very good laugh.

Yeah, in the future you probably shouldn't strike the earth quite so hard

Ah, cave-in dust. Such a blessing.
... when the beast doesn't also have wings.
I remember that scarab creature that was almost unkillable because it would always send any dwarf flying; if they didn't die in the repeated cave-ins, the syndrome itself would within a minute. Meanwhile, it would still hover without flinching. I hated that darn thing. HATE. SO MUCH HATE.  >:(

More on-topic, and in the same fort: a serpent FB with poisonous sting and a shell ate a few dwarfs after it appeared in the caverns. Bloodthirsty snake. It didn't try reaching my fort at first, nope... it was following civilians in the dark depths instead, staving off its hunger for hairy alcoholic meat. It gained quite the title within 5 minutes.
Then, once there wasn't any more worker unfortunate to have been stuck underground, it stalked a farmer up some long carved stairs. I had already sent my army, of course, but the serpent had been very quick at dismembering its victims, and the military very slow at remembering where they had put their xx(pig tail fiber socks)xx. It slithered upwards, faster than the farmer could run, and quick as the lightning, bit his left hand off. Shitting his pants and bleeding most of the beer in his veins, but having nothing left to lose, the dwarf awkwardly tried to punch the monster with his left - that is, right - hand, who dodged.
Did I mention they were 6-7 z-levels above the ground, and that the stairs were mostly uncovered?
So, the snake dodged the harmless punch. It didn't dodge the ground. More specifically, his brain, stuck inside its skull, didn't dodge the hard, humid, cold ground.
The farmer officially obtained the very nice title of Serpent Slayer.

Undirected dust. It works like that indeed.

...I'm building a cavern-airlock-cave-in-trap next fort to deal with those. Unless they don't have deadly dust.

The only FB I've met face to face EVER was that giant cicada in 31.24. It spat frozen extract, splattered white ichor, and eventually died of being punched in the brain. So, yeah, no stories. Aside from that it had curly green hair, which was used to suture up a dwarf with a broken hip. All 426 mangos of it.

These were all awesome stories! Thanks for sharing, I feel less crummy about all the fun I had.
Granite quadraped with a dust attack that caused lung rot tore into my cavern dwelling fortress. Many died...

I read that as quad-raped. I imagine it is fitting for such a beast.

I suppose my most insane FB would be a slate serpent with dust. My military dispatched rather easily, but they also tracked it's dust throughout the whole fortress. I didn't notice it at first, but soon all of my animals started vomiting constantly. I was so confused about why and asked about it here and here until they all suffocated simultaneously along with the babies. Then the tantrum spiral got out of control a bit...

A more recent crazy one was yesterday in my current fort. It was something made out of vomit, and it had already killed all of my military that reached it. It was walking on a narrow bridge leading to my main-ish stairwell when a sow attacked it. It dodged off the bridge and into the lake below. It the started up the stairwell from below then and when it came to the same bridge, my military had it surrounded it then and almost got him when a cat attacked it and it dodged off the bridge again, landed on it's head, bruised it brain, and died instantly.
