And have a plan b, because I'll bet there is QUITE a bit of evidence planted by our opponents for this guys guilt - they seem to be a good deal more subtle than us.

I kinda agree here. Perhaps we should divide ourselves to roles? That way we won't all get caught up in the !!Science!! of the moment.

I don't think needing the loo is going to solve the problem, but I completely agree that we need to solve the situation with ATT changes.

And then we decided to go and do something that had NO worth, and we ignored our other proponents.
We could have learned more about him, and such.

Somewhere under Cape Town...

Fniff was in way over his head.

He understood AI. Those little lines of code that seemed to thinking. It all made sense. They weren't really thinking, they weren't really alive. They could be controlled. They could be understood. AI were predictable, dumb and could not make a sane sentence if it tried.

This project was different. The low-level AI produced by this system were beyond anything in humanity's reach! They thought like humans, they used common sense and they could have a personality! Fniff was frankly terrified when he was introduced to the lowest AI. It was so...So real. It was like IRC. It misspelled words, it made mistakes, it wasn't perfect! It had bypassed the uncanny valley completely! It flew over it without a dip! It was amazing, but also very frightening.

They were going to attempt to make the highest level AI they would ever make. Some sort of threat was going on, and this would be perfect for the AI. Fniff saw what this AI could do.

It was amazing. It detailed worlds easily, and that wasn't the AI itself. It was just an aid! Think of the possible applications! Ultra realistic virus simulations, in fact, a revolution in simulations everywhere! But, it was only a shell to contain the AI.

Fniff went along with the experiment. He helped the candidates, and made sure they stayed alive. Several failed, but that was just a thing. However, his curiosity could not be helped. He had to look at the code.

It was magnificent. Trillions upon trillions of lines. So many. Unbelievable. His compiler crashed trying to compile everything, but he pressed on. He looked at the code directly.

His computer crashed, and his hard drive was wiped. Fniff was supplied with was practically a supercomputer! How could anything crash it and also wipe it?

Fniff had to know what this was, and he had to tell everyone.

He was helping the candidate when he felt a gun pointed at his back.

"Do not look around, or I will fire. This is not your domain. You test, and you leave. You do not look into this." A neutral voice said.

"What is wrong with the code? Why did it crash on my computer?"

"It is magnificence in and of itself. Deus Ex Machina. It is beautiful, but get too close and it will burn you."

The sound of shoes against concrete, and the sound of a door slamming.

Phantom and Fayrik walked in, both with hot cups of coffee in their hands. Fniff got his mug with his favorite phrase (c0D3r'2 Mu9) and the duo sat down. Phantom was a proper scientist. Not like Fniff. Phantom did smart things, instead of just cool things. Fniff still did cool things, but Phantom was pretty good at the smart things. Fayrik...Well, who knows. A My Little Pony fan, at least.

"Hey, Fniff, you look worried. What's wrong?" Phantom asked.

Fniff looked at Phantom, and said only three words.

"Deus Ex Machina."

The guard starts to blink rapidly, swaying about before he collapses on the ground. The steward leans out of the room, and signals to some servants outside. They run in, and remove the guard.

The guards are 1.64m and 1.65m respectively. Both guards are burly, with broad shoulders. They wears a dark blue doublet over an white shirt of linen. They wear a breastplate, with the mark of the smiths of Magile on it. A coat of arm, argent with a lion rampant azure, is enamelled upon the breastplate. They wear blue hose, with a dark blue flat hat upon their heads. Their shoes are sturdy, and made out of tough leather. They have halberds, with the mark of Patlel on the blades. Rapiers, with the mark of a minor blacksmith, lie at their belts.

Abel Davi is 1.58m tall. His face is round and pudgy. His nose is bulbous. His hair is dark brown, though only a few wisps still lie atop of his head. He wears a dark blue silk doublet over a shirt of silk. His silk jerkin is finely made, with golden threads and embroidery. The coat of arms of Lady Andrea is embroidered on his jerkin. His doublet and jerkin end well above his knees, revealing his dark blue hose. He wears a blue flat cap on his head, with an Terror Bird feather sewn into it. His shoes are made of subtle leather, as is his belt. His rapier is marked with the stamp of the legendary metal smith Gaspar Patrício.

Say steward: And what is more important, following her orders, or killing the messenger? I can see your thoughts, and what you want to happen is not the lady's orders. Guards, I think searching the room would be good, would it not?
