So did nobody made the obvious pun yet ?

Nobles'are all living in the dwarven submarine

But yes, I do believe magma-sea SMR eats everything you throw at it. Even magma-safe rock. And shit you do not want such as -elk bird cage (tin)-

Man, I can't wait until you can move segments of map with dwarf power, then you could carve the vehicle out in your quarry, then move it to the launch platform.

Well then we can lower the submarine into the magma.

There are a few problems with this:

terrain falls instantly. Dwarves do not. The terrain would fall through them killing them instantly while leaving them suspended in mid-air.

So you would need to freeze them in cryogenic sleep before you launch it correct? Would putting them in cages also work?

Maybe the dwarves need to invent springs first before they can make a hard metallic surface better for bedding then having to sleep on the floor.

I've got it:
1. Obsidianize a level before the SMR, then cave-in your roofless pod.
2. Pump out the magma.
3. Build farms and workshop, then drop the dwarves in a roof up the top.
4. Let the magma cover the entire thing.

the issue being that the SMR forms "Magma Flow" directly above it and can't be turned into obsidian.you'd need to support it some other way.

Can you drop a ladel-shaped piece of natural rock in and have a hook which lands on some solid edge of the magma pool (maybe an outlying edge you cast from obsidian?) You could then pump out the magma or pour water into the inside.

This could stop the rock just short of the SMR, but i don't know if it would work. I need to drain a volcano to test this, and it's something I've not tried yet.

Unfortunate ly the "hook" would stay in place, while the rest would keep going.
I was thinking more along the lines of obsidianizing the area around a bluemetal spire, to make a sort of anchor.

I guess with water you can reduce the magma sea to the SMR and one level of magma flow above each bit of SMR? I'm guessing magma flow regenerates instantly if pumped out?
