Took me forever to find an image hosting site for the file size. I'll explain the edits when I get the second one posted.
Edit: So, what you see entirely is a badly built fortress (I'm still learning the intricacies). What you can't see though, is how everything went down.
The reddish square is where I had the trade caravan trapped.I probably should have realized the idiocy of having it set against my moat. Basically, what happened was when the merchants started going all nutso, items exploded and shot over the wall onto the ground, into the water...and for one unlucky camel, all the way across the moat into a secluded spot that would be its death nearly a season later.
This is shown in the green circles. All of the guards are still alive, and this is important, because they play a part in things later.
Some of the merchants also made it outside the walls, but for some reason, it only ended up being the melancholy ones. A lot of the animals went melancholy as well, save for the one Yak or Buffalo (I cannot remember) that went berserk. I then decided to put down the Yak-Buffalo.
Shit got real.
All of a sudden, people are exploding, and their bodies are literally being knocked into the water, nearly three squares away in some places.
This is signified by the green circles on the underground pic. After the initial shock-wave of death, people started losing their minds. One of the most important ones was my mayor, who started pulling levers. One of them being the draw bridge,
yellow circle on top level, and the underwater farm I had made a hatch for water,
signified by the red circle underground.
The moment he pulled the lever to the farm, the water became shallow enough for the 5 merchant guards to hop into. With the water rushing as fast as it was, they were all pushed right into my base from underwater, where they slaughtered nearly every one of the rest of my dwarves; all of whom were completely insane and incapable of defending theirself.
And that's my story.
