Just saying that wooden wall arround "all" the base youll need will probably take like 15 turns?^^

I'll take the HQ group.

Order some thermal goggles, a bunch of flares attached to tripwires, maybe some kind of motion detectors. Forget the wall, just set up a damn perimeter!

Get the radio set up, if we have one. If the ship is still here, check it sensor suite and try scanning the forest for small thermal signals, the mountain for large thermal signals, then do a radar sweep of the entire area looking for any sort of concentrations of refined metals. Also get the sensors watching the perimeter. Have the engineer help out the crewman if he knows anything about the ships systems. Otherwise get him on a rotating shift with the medic. They each stand guard with one trooper. I don't like surprise guests.

And have them trade out those sissy pistols for a real damn gun. We've got five in storage.

I think we should just chop down the trees and stack the wood inside the encampment. Clear out an at least twenty meters in every direction. I'd prefer two-hundred, but that could take weeks.

Let the colonist worry about the wall. We should use the wood to improve the foxholes into proper firing positions. I think we should also get busy setting up more tents in order to expedite the arrival of additional personnel, but I can under stand postponing that until we have a more secure encampment.

What we need to do is begin setting up a defensive position using the mountain as a base we buil the wall off that which is surronded  by a trench which is filled with Sharp stakes, and a flamable ssubstance. The wall would be semi hollow so we could fit men in it, and there should be shooting holes that are just a flap of wood connected to some joints that let yyou flip them up, and open fire. On top of the walls we should position auto turrets, and heavy weapon positons, and in the towers we should place any snipers. Any vehicles we get will be set behind these walls incase a hole is busted through the wall so we can better contain threats.

That a good idea ?

I'm not sure how much we need to concern ourselves with that kinda defense, right now we've got the guns, so our biggest concern is getting free fire areas, aka clear the lumber so we have dead zones around us.

Eventually we will have to guard colonists so I quess its a sort of way to prepare after all colonists that feel safe at ngith sleep better, and work harder.

Fireteam 1,2 and the QRF squad start chopping down some trees, each 4 troopers manage to get one heavy, 20 metres long tree down. The HQ squad is scanning for lifeforms close to the current setup place, finding nothing more than harmless low-warmth signals of animals. Well they dont look like "real" animals though...I mean kind of stags with 8 legs and sharp teeth lurking arround the woods hunting 3 legged rabbits. Scary shit. There are also 2 more tents built up by the troopers in the HQ squad. [Troop limit increased by 1]

Anyways I will be getting the colonists, A lot of barbed wire and 2 jeeps. lets do this.  For QRF: Continue cutting down trees and begin working on the wall.
