Melancholy
« on: March 30, 2011, 10:37:09 am »

I was under the impression that a dwarf that is melancholy will never recover, but I'm pretty sure I just had one that recovered somehow.

Any insights?

Are you sure he wasn't just tantruming?

It made an announcement that she was melancholy, and she had a purplish exclamation point on her.

I made a post that involved her a few days ago. She was one of the stupid dwarves that got stuck in a mine with a perfectly working entrance/exit. I dug her and the other two out. Three days later, she goes melancholy, and the other two go berserk. I put down the two berserkers, and let her do her own thing, because I figured the only person she'd hurt was herself.

I looked at her profile, and she was "upset from a miscarriage" and her husband died while serving in my military, which I found to be more depressing to me than a video game situation should be. I put her on permanent vacation, gave her a nice room outside of the dorm, and assumed she'd be dead before the next season. Now, nothing is wrong with her anymore.

This color exclamation point? If so, that was a strange mood:

Here's the thing: I'm using the phoebus mod, so what I see might just be a placeholder designed by the modder. I know for certain that it was melancholy though, because she started slowly walking outside of my base, blinking her sprite and the exclamation point, back and forth. After walking to the edge of the map, she turned around and came right back.

Lemme see if I can find her.

The Melancholy of Ursit Susumiya...   Solution,  trap a fluffy wambler (alien),savescumed  adventure mode character(time traveler) and a diplomat moded with [fire breath] as well as some cluless pesant and have them cheer her up [\BAD_ANIME_JOKE]

Found her.

She's dead now.

I never got a notification that it happened, but I assume her suicide was pretty damned gruesome...she's missing the top half of her body.

Except for that giant cicada FB I got, it's missing its thorax instead.

Well... I guess that's true, as it's now mostly tallow in a lot of pots.

"Thorax" is the insectoid body's equivalent of "upper body."

And vertebrate as well. Thorax = upper body, Abdomen = lower body.

That's strange.

So that's why that metalcrafter that drowned was listed as missing an upper body. I was a bit puzzled about that...
