I am working on a zombie apocalypse rtd, and was wondering what time period should I put it in medieval, modern, futuristic, etc. ?

You can't fault it for originality, that's for sure, although survival might be difficult.

Well I worked out a mechanic that might help with that problem, so at first you will start at a primitive tech level, but things like cars, guns, explosives, etc. still exist just for you to be able to make, or use one you must first research it.

In order to create things like guns, vehicles, explosives, etc. you must first fiqure out how to make it, and what it is most research can only be carried out if you have an example of the thing you are trying to research with you, and then you would need to break it down, fiqure out how it works, reassemble it, and then make a blueprint of said object. Of course somethings such as advanced farming techniques, and smithing can be reasearched just through studying, but in order to study somthing you either need books on it, or the data must be stored in the shelter's computer.
