I'd talked some time ago about figuring out some way to redo the feat of Mörul Cattenmat in DF2010, but my computer simply doesn't have the processing power to make that long a fort work. So, I'm going to attack it as a succession game in 0.31.25. Who's interested? I'll gen a world in a bit.

Here's the succession:

Dhokarena56
Alaric
Svarte Troner
Baron Baconeer
USEC_OFFICER

Please, by all means join up!

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Right. I picked a girl, because she was the youngest and least likely to die of old age. We can just kill anybody she marries; that'll ensure she has no kids.

So, here's our embark on the world map:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And here's the embark itself:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1st Granite: We have embarked! Immediately I set Mörul to work chopping down a tree, building a staircase, and digging a 1-tile shaft down. We brought 3 war dogs for defense, 3 female regular and 1 male dogs for breeding purpose, as well as a cat for the vermin. We also ended up with a yak cow and a water buffalo cow- good milking. I set her to dig out a huge area in soil- good stockpile space now, and it trains her up fast. Luckily, we're on a map with both sand and clay, so we can do glassmaking and pottery.
21st Granite: 3 weeks in and she's a skilled miner, which is good, although she's now going off to booze. Luckily, she's "very slow to tire", so she won't be taking a nap any time soon.
1st Hematite: Beginning of summer and she's an accomplished miner- I'm having her start a bit of farming now.

10th Malachite, we get migrants. Well, good riddence- they ain't gonna be doin' squat (except for the talented miner, who can take over when Morul hits legendary in mining, which'll be soon). Morul is now a master miner and has done a bit of planting.

17th Galena- Morul's now a legendary miner, so that's our first stat done. She can now attack woodcutting/carpentry/brewing/growing, and that talented miner we got can be the miner.

20th Limestone- Oh hey. MORE MIGRANTS, and boy are they useless. Good thing Morul's on the food arc...

Mid-Timber, the caravan arrives. Anticipating the need to do tanning and woodworking next year, I request all the wood, leather, and dogs they can bring. We also ask for some milk to get cheese making started. Svarte, either get him started on stonecrafting/jewelry next year, or you'll have to deconstruct that depot on them because we won't be able to buy their stuff, but we will really need it.

1st Granite
I look out across the eastern brook surrounded by pine and bamboo. I have been chosen to lead this fortress into the new year. I have many ideas of how to make us great but so little time. Hopefully with my time in charge I can create a foundation to carry our fortress through the ages.

5th Slate
Word of our success has definitely spread. A huge group of migrants have just arrived. Among them are a master mason and a few warriors.

7th Hematite
It seems one of our fellow dwarves has been taken by a fey mood and claimed a craftsdwarfs shop. Hopefully nothing bad will come of this occurrence

12th Hematite
Our craftdwarf comes out of his hysteria with a wooden ring and legendary woodcrafting skills

14th Malachite
Our fortress is plugging along pretty uneventful.  However a group of migrants has just arrived.

27th Galena
Our miners have struck iron. We will begin smelting immediately.

18th Limestone
More migrants have arrived, they are mostly warriors this time. I will have to integrate them into our army.

13th Timber
It seems our military has been up to no good. Since they have been equipped with decent weapons they have decided to capture a few moosemen and kill them for practice.

6th Moonstone
It seems Zasit bit off more than he could chew. In an attack against the moosemen he was killed. He will have a warriors burial.

1st Obsidian
We have had a few snow storms but it seems we have fared them pretty well. Spring is on the horizon as well as good things for us.

12th Obsidian
It appears that our weaver has gone berserk. As a safety measure for the rest of the fortress I have had to lock him in his room until he starts to behave.

27th Obsidian
We were attacked today by goblin snatchers. They were easily dealt with by our military. One was killed, one was routed, and the other was captured.

28th Obsidian
Another attack by goblin thieves on the last day of my reign. But this goblin was not very smart he walked right into a cage trap and now he is our prisoner. Our fortress has made a lot of progress this last year but I know that the best is ahead of us.

2nd of Granite
I can't even find where the lever to the front door is. Oh well, guess we'll leave it open, hopefully no Goblins attack. I don't really know what else to do but build a megaconstruction.

19th of Granite
Snatcher! Oh, he walked into one of our cages.

7th of Slate
The crazy guy that Alaric locked up just died of thirst.

20th of Slate
Huzzah! Nobotavum, the raccoon bone chain has just been created by Ustuth Vathezasmel the manager.

5th of Felsite
About 15 migrants arrived today, there was a trader among them.

16th of Felsite
An Elven caravan has arrived.

22nd of Felsite
A large herd of moosemen has apperead outside! I've never seen these creatures before. They shall be dealt with swiftly and without remorse!

Our most prominent engraver sketched a picture of the fiends!

12th of Hematite
Huzzah! After days of running around in the woods, our boys have killed two of the creatures, a male and female. An examination will begin post haste! Perhaps we will capture more.

22nd of Hematite
More Migrants. A smaller group than before. More animals (like we really need them or something). Speaking of animals, I've just begun butchering the hordes of stray dogs and bunny's we have running around.

This concludes my journal for now, I'll finish the year a little bit later.

26th of Hematite
Work has begun on the Mayor's new bedchamber.

2nd of Malachite
We've begun digging out a second layer of bedrooms as well.

13th of Malachite
Rotten moosemen carcasses are stinking up the meeting area, whose idea was it to put the butcher's workshop there?

16th of Malachite
Speaking of moosemen, a group of nine of them is wandering near our walls, the militia has been dispatched.

21st of Malachite
All the moosemen are dead. Not even a scratch on our men.

2nd of Galena
Giant Badgers are roaming around across the river. They seem harmless like the moosemen. We can butcher them since they aren't sentient.

6th of Galena
Bad news. Alaric had his arm torn off by a Giant Badger. We killed a few though, the bones will be made into trophys displaying Alaric's bravery.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

18th of Galena
Human caravan arrives just in time for Giant badger bone crafts.

I'll finish out autumn and winter tonight.
