I've just killed my first Titan...

And it was the most anticlimatic thing I've ever done.

Two hits and dead. I checked out the Legends page afterwards. Turns out it was made of mud!

It only had to body parts anyway, the shell and the body. Not sure how it would of fought back even if I gave it the opitunity.

Anything made out of an inorganic material is either pathetically weak, or nearly indestructible.  I've killed a salt demon by kicking it, but bronze colossuses and gem/metal titans are almost impossible to kill without steel or adamantine weapons.

My first titan was WAY more anticlimactic. It turned out it was made entirely out of steam, and only took one hit to the chest to take down.

Yeah, Titans like that are the weakest. Sometimes they can still be dangerous if they have a special attack of some kind. Like the forest Titan I killed the other day that was made of flames, it melted all my meatshield companions (while I cunningly flanked in safety). But after that first flame/steam blast it died in one hit to the body.

Today killed a Titan that was a giant mockingbird made of glass. That was harder, I was slashing and stabbing it for ages, only managing to chip and fracture body parts before one hit cut the torso in half. A Pikeman companion was hurting it more, he removed a couple of limbs but somehow I got the killing blow. Maybe he softened it up for me or something.

Speaking of which... I know there's a titan number in the worldgen options. However, Toady mentioned something about a "hard cap" -- are we able to have as many titans as we want or only 16 max or something? I wanna be able to be a titan slayer wherever I go!

In custom worldgen parameters you can up the number of titans to 100,000. (Though it says titans, I believe it actually means all megabeasts.)

The problem is that with 100,000 megabeasts running around the history generation will take forever as all of them roam around and do stuff.

I generated a pocket world with 10,000 "titans" and history generation wasn't too bad, but I ended up with small communities of 10+ megabeasts per lair/site instead of the usual one per site. Even with a small army that can become a little unmanageable.

Yeah, titans for all! They've always been my favorite "creatures". I even sometimes use DFusion to play as one and go on adventures and stuff!

Spoily-critters from the circus can be like this too.  I once accidentally released them and decided to try and put up a pathetic fight.  THe first dozen or so of these things were made of frost, steam etc. so my crossbow dwarf squad actually held them off for a while, one shot one kill.  It was pretty heroic.  Then some more solids ones showed up and it was pretty much downhill from there.

Not too many as I recall, but you can set this number to an extend (I believe?) in advanced worldgen.

I just genned a small world and the default in advanced worldgen parameters was only 80. IIRC I think the number for a large world is something like maybe 200.

I always jack this number up, but I don't jack it up too high because of the historical event explosion it causes.
